Most of the time I just skip the ice cream and go for actual cookie dough...
Bro, what? I don't understand you, man. Now I have an image in my head of someone buying a packet of cookie dough and unwrapping it on the move like a candy bar.
...we can go even further off topic with that discussion.
No!
We all don't have a Trader Joe's locally. The closest we have is an Aldi[...]
So...the off-brand Trader Joe's? At least half of your county isn't in that store at any given time...unlike the Trader Joe's out here.
They closed the Shoney's here a few years back.
But are you at all surprised?
At least there are plenty of Waffle Houses here, not that I have eaten at one in like a decade.
Waffle House is powerful. A full breakfast at 2:00 in the morning? No one else can provide.
And Cook Out (still a regional thing, pretty sure they are nowhere near you).
Never heard of it.
Yeah, I have never had any of their stuff, even the stuff on closeout/clearance at Food Lion (still expensive).
In a nutshell, Talenti's ice cream has next to no air in it, which is the main ingredient Breyer's and B&J use to bulk out their products. It has too much fat to be a proper gelato, but I can down a pint at will. I don't care.
We have a frozen dairy treat snob...
That's an odd title... "Hi, my name is Robert, and I'm a discerning garbage bag aficionado."
...here that loves their mint something or other stuff. That stuff is why I don't get to try fancy shit very often.
The fanciest I've tried is the Creole Creamery on Prytania St. and the Angelo Brocato's on one of the Carrolltons in New Orleans. Haven't had the chance to try that fancy Thai rolled ice cream yet though. One day...
...btw, Food Lion kinda sucks, because they don't have any havarti.
That's...a random-but-common thing to not have.
Well, maybe at the section where you can get them to slice meat and cheese, but I don't personally get stuff from there.
Wait, why not? The deli lady ain't gonna go over your head with a pizza knife, is she?
Oh, haven't had it for a while, but if you like yogurt stuff, try some Siggi's skyr. It has spoiled me.
The first time I saw Siggi's my brother pointed to the anime-style character on the front and called it Weeb Cream.
I actually have experience with making my own yogurt. Most store-bought stuff is alright, but fresh-made strained yogurt is FAR less tart. Most Greek yogurt cups are of high-enough quality to propagate through the milk quickly (relatively speaking, anyway; it usually takes a night to make the yogurt and 15min to strain). I even took one of my probiotic caps and made yogurt out of that, although the actual culture profile will eventually become such that only 5 or 6 of the supposed 40+ strains will outgrow the rest.
The most important thing, however, is the medium. grass-fed and Fairlife milk make great regular yogurt.
Now I can't stand most other yogurt, even with the current Greek style fad thing going on (although there are a couple of those that are ok).
Probably because of that aforementioned tartness. Some others, like Chobani, also may have more of a "cooked" taste. Like if you tried to make something out of dry milk.
Do we have a dedicated food thread?
Indeed. I feel like, after this post, one of the mods is gonna descend from the heavens and Batista Bomb me and RKO you. Followed by the People's Elbow.
