i picked i didn't care before reading the posts, i knew it looked like the PS2 and PS1 controllers, i'm used to those, then i read the posts and saw this guy is rrrreeeealllly far out of the loop.

The controller has such an "banana-shaped" look and I don't think that plays right. I might buy a PS3 but the controller doesn't look right and I think it doesn't feel right too. So I was asking myself: since there are lots of people (on this forum) who are gonna buy a PS3, I would like to know how people thought about the PS3 controller.

wtf controller are you talking about? The controller is no different from the PS2 and PS1 dual shock controller only it doesn't have rumble it has motion sensor.

The revised PS3 controller (the one that looks like the Dual Shock) is bland and unoriginal seeing as it's basically the same as one that's been around roughly ten years. The handles are terribly short and uncomfortable, two R and L buttons have always sucked (and will even more so now that the L2/R2 are analog like the Xbox's), and I still cannot believe the joystick hasn't traded places with the D-pad yet. And while on the topic of the D-pad, divided pads suck.

Other than that, it's great...

I thought it's good. It's the same configuration as the PS2 controller which was the same configuration as the PS1 dualshock controller. No learning curve right there. I like the fact that I can recharge the controller through USB port not like X360. Some complained about L2/R2 analog buttons, but I was just fine with them when I was trying out at E3; at least, you don't have to push 4 feet down the buttons like GC L/R or 2 feet for X360 L/R. Nothing special, but why fix something that's not broken? IMO PS2 controller was a near perfection.

I chose "Brilliant!" because by changing almost nothing to the design & shape, I don't have to adapt, plus I can just pop in my old PS2 games without having to re-train my hands.

i always thought the controller was good. I don't play my PS2 that often but when i do my hands are always comfortable. I agree with Itsme, why fix something that isn't broken.

Just found out I was wrong  IGN shows a picture of the banana shaped controller in the PS3 section. Sorry for this stupid poll then

It is broken because the anologue stick is where the dpad should be and the dpad is where the analogue stick should be.

Its like a SNES pad with two huge analogue sticks just chucked on.

Anyone designing a control pad these days would put the analogue stick where the dpad is so that on the majority of games your hand position is symmetrical.

I don´t like the PSX/2/3 controller, its designed for children or japanese with tiny hands. I have to bend my thumbs all the time to hit the buttons. Anyone here has a Saitek P 800 or higher? Those have a good size.
