    Hello,

A few weeks back i posted (a rather lame) app for converting webpages to jpeg. The main idea being that you can grab down your favorite webpages, and read them using GPFM. This weekend I rewrote it, and whilst it's still very green, it's somewhat improved. Those who are brave enough to try it, can get it here... (1.4meg)

There is at this point, no help files, or instructions. I'll do some when its a little closer to being finished. Being that this is the gp32 community, I'm sure most of you will figure it out. I'd really like some feedback on how it should look / act by the final release. I've tried to make it as configurable as possible, but plan on hiding most of the options in the final release.

The 2 minute instructions would be:

    - Unpack the .rar file (with paths) someplace on your harddisk.

    - Run 'Snipet.exe' to start it.

    - Record -> New to add a new webpage, put the url into the focused text field and hit enter. After the page has been captured, you select a region from it that will be stored in the database.

    - Selecting the region is a bit flakey, it's click hold to start the selection, then release to finish. Also to commit the change right click -> Set. Looks like there's a few update issues there, I'll make that the next thing to fix up.

    - Once you have a database of favorite sites and the regions set, You just do Database -> Update -> Update and Export. The app will go and download all the websites and the output folder will be filled with all the .jpegs from the sites.

    - The application uses the standard Access 2000 database format, so that might be a useful workaround for any bugs that show up invovling record management.

Lastly, I've broken the database compactor. As it this shouldn't be a big issue, if your database gets too big in size, you can compact it using Access, or by manually running the compactor.exe included in the archive. Don't let the look and feel of this put you off, when i get the chance I'll change it around to suit any feedback I get. I am not a programmer, and only get to 'borrow' a delphi compiler every once and a while.

    Good luck,
    r0lf

    oooh feedback to here:

I'd also add some other things to it like GP32 news section, where it extracts the news from GP32x and puts it in a .txt file. Don't think it should be 2 hard?

P.S. It is still cool :)

It has come to my attention that the app isn't very user friendly in the UI department.. lol

It's simply got too many unneeded options and the like. Here is about as much help as I can be bothered providing for now. (sorry! not much time). I want to make the UI nice and friendly, but will alter it on peoples feedback... already have a big list of fixes and UI improvments, keep them coming to r0lf@telstra.com.. Thanks!

(and No sorry it's not launching the GP32 host link automatically on anyones system except mine...oophs  )

Don't launch PC-Link host, use DKFDR's pclink commandline, you just do pclink -u file.xxx

i think this could be a very useful tool for the gp32, you know just do a quick launch of it, get the latest news from wherever and read it on the bus, saves buying a paper

I love this as I wanted a similar tool once and it was -commercial-!! Images are cool although for text I would copy it to a text file. We still need HTML, WML or RTF viewers though.

I agree with all three of you... I would *much* *much* prefer a proper .html viewer for the GP.

    Somebody, please...... pretty please!
