hi everyone,

i've been trying a lot of stuff with my pandora; but i find no way to connect any USB device, keyboard, cardreader, mp3 player, none of my stuff works

i'm aware of the uab2 only limit, but i can't believe every periphal i go is usb1.1, i don't have a hub to make sure tho...

fixable?

thx!

Try restarting it. There is a problem with the system only recognizing the first device you put in the port.

The USB2 rule comes with a hidden extra: If you plug a USB1.1 device in, the USB service (for want of correct term) will actually crash, and requires a reboot. Once it's crashed, you could plug in a thousand perfectly good USB2 devices and never know they were good.

It's really worth buying/borrowing a hub, for your tests at least.

To help with your tests, open up a terminal and type the command for listing USB devices: lsusb (you may need to type sudo lsusb actually)

If you're on a fresh boot with nothing plugged in, one item should be listed: "Linux foundation 2.0 root hub"

Now plug in your card reader, which is likely to be USB2. Type lsusb again (or just hit Up on the d-pad to enter the command again). If the device is recognised, it will be listed. If nothing is listed, it's likely the USB has crashed and you need to reboot. As you can see, this is a fairly painful game of trial and error, avoided by using a hub!

My tests have shown me that most mice, keyboards, gamepads basically anything with no need to 100s of MBs are still usb 1.1 I assume for price/backwards compatibility,

USB 2 things seem to include phones, hard drives and more data intensive things.
