I got really annoyed and wrote some helper bookmarklets.
The first one(clean link) is to be used after clicking on an old link from this forum. Normally the browser can't handle it and will say so. Click the bookmarklet and you'll get the page it links to. No more manually removing the garbage. You can try it out by clicking one of the many links in this post CODE
http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?showtopic=43659
The second one(clean post) replaces all groups of single quotes [edit] and all backticks with the proper html entity. CODE
ex: 'bla` is replaced by 'bla'
After you have written your post in the textarea (before you submit), click the bookmarklet to clean your post. You can try this one out by editing your post. I've used it for the numerous edits on this very post.
[thanks to chole for the html entity idea]
You can go to this link CODE
http://pastie.org/412789
, click download and get the html. Load it in your browser and bookmark the two links in the page.
[if anyone has a more permanent host for the .html, I'll edit this post.]
I also plan to write another one that cleans out improper new links CODE
http://...[url] Here's the html... the two links. TO ADMINS: move if necessary
