I was showing a friend my gp running different emulators and the first thing he asked was "Can you put it through a tv?"
I presume if it was possible someone would have already done it.
Have any clever hardware guys tinkered around with the idea?

Yes it can be done, but its messy, you will need the wires coming out the bottom of the GP32 with holes in the case, also i'm not sure if the LCD adaptor is even easily available anymore. There was a mass production one for the GBA.

It's surprising how popular the idea of outputting handhelds to a TV seems to be - it gets asked all the time! It goes back years too... I was one of those that was gutted when the Lynx TV-Out that was promised many many moons ago never materialised.

Strange no-one seems too bothered the other way round though. Not many people seem to ask about portable xboxes... admittedly that would probably involve a wheelbarrow and some pretty serious power extension leads :p

It is a great idea that is sadly ignored. Those arcade/old console things that you plug into your TV seem to be quite popular so there is a missed oppurtunity here, as it could have been a great selling point for the new PSP and Nintendo DS for the price of an extra lead.
The Sega Nomad could do it though (I have seen it in action in CEX anyway).

That would probably be recalled 4 years after release.

from a home brew / emulation stand point having a hacked xbox and a gp32 is about as good as it gets. I wish I could have all of the stuff on my xbox in my pocket but thats not going to happen. I am looking into attempting to create an app that would let me copy files directly from the xbox to the gp32 but we'll see if that turns into anything.

If I had the knowledge I would've done that already, it shouldn't be hard for a coder with some experience as there are already programs for the Xbox that can see when a GP32 is plugged in, but it can't read it because it's formatted with FAT12.

If you know how to code anything to read FAT12, I'd recommend suggesting it to one of the dash board authors (UnleashX is probably the best bet) because then it could all be in one nice package.

Sorry, when I was asking about the format before all I heard was FAT12 and windows just says FAT.

Anyway, I'd rather not install Linux just to transfer STufF between my GP32 and my Xbox, I'd need to get another xbox -> usb cable and a usb keyboard anyway.

I think a dashboard having FAT16 (FAT12, FAT32.9, whatever) support would be the best way for it to be done.

BYEEEEE!!

You know Nintendo love releasing those little add-ons to their consoles so that you can play on the their latest handheld (you can get them for SNES, N64 and GC). Has anyone thought of making one of those for their favourite console?

:D
