I have some AVIs that have been encoded with AC3 audio which is Dolby Surround if memeory serves me correctly. However Virtual Dub Doesn't seem to be able to handle the files and fails with an Audio error.

Any ideas on how I can circumvent this anyone?

Have you downloaded a latest codec pack yet? I was having the same problem so I just downloaded a pack from http://www.cole2k.net/ and then it all worked again.

LOL Now virtual Dub crashes when I try to load my config hehe. Cheers Reesy :p

Oh well I'll prolly figure it out at the weekend :)

make a new config

I doubt it's that. I hope it isn't :) I've got 14 GPcinema Vdub configs for various settings and qualities depending on what I'm encoding and whether I need stereo etc.

Just reinstalled the Koepi codec which has fixed Virtual Dub but I'm still left with the original problem. TBH I've thought all along that I need to pre process the file so that it's already stereo before it reaches Virtual Dub. I've got no idea what to process it with though.

My appologies Reesy. I downloaded the advanced codec pack in the vain hope it would work and it does. Cheers mate that saves me a lot of work processing the audio and video seperately :) I still had to reinstall the koepi codec to keep vdub happy tho.
