Hey all, I just orderd my gp2x and I'm just downloading stuff for what I want to put on there and lookin around. I was wondering, to transfer stuff to the SD card, you dont need a card writer right? You can use the USB cable, granted it'll go slower. I figured you can but people were tlaking about formating there sd cards and I was wondering if this was a must or something, I'm not sure.

If not I'll just lay 20 bucks on a card writer no biggie. Thankx

It's a really good investment to have a card writer. If things ever go wrong, they are very useful - and with the amount of stuff beginning to use digital memory cards now, it'll be useful for future gadgets. You can get them for less than $20 if you shop around on ebay, too.

Alright thankx, I'll probably buy one anyway but until I do I just wanted to make sure I can be able to use the usb cord. I'm set then =D I'm just scared about the firmware update, some people have trouble but I'll do it probably lol

Don't forget to put the 7 files in the main directory of your SD card before you turn it on. Also, sometimes the gp2x doesn't recognize the files on one SD card, but it might on another.. so, good luck with that.
