I have already pre-ordered so its not of great concern...but I must have missed the explanation on this one:

What is the stick on the GP2x?

It's not analouge is it? I heard something about it being digital, will it give full rotation like a joystick?

I don't think it will allow 16 directions, but the point is; it's a lot more accurate (according to GPH), and that's why :) . No more Joystick fixes that is :D

And for people like DaveC that don't like changes to things that they are already happy with, yes you can just use 4 directions if you want :) :D

So does that mean that theoretically you could use it to go in 16 different directions?

It depends if the extra switch is independently accessable or if it is just combining the other two inputs.

My feeling is if it were just combining with the other two points than it'd hardly be any more acurate. So it'd have to be separate or ortherwise they should just make the 4 contacts more durable... but who knows maybe it IS they way of making it more durable by having redundancy build in.

We wont really know untill we have it in our hands.

On gbax.com they mention a "16 way digital joypad". That would mean 8 contacts and by pressing 1 or 2 of these you get 16. 16 directions make sence in some games but 4 or 8 makes far more sence in other games.

So it's possible to turn of 4 of the contacts or just ignore them so you get a regular 8 way joypad? I have this idea of a boxing game that would work wonders on GP2X but it won't work with 16 directions. It would use 4 or 8, not sure what would be the best option at the moment.

we want to know every info you can get from gbax. Spill the beans! you're not obligated to post a link, just tell us what you can see.

Well, this is quite interesting:
"For 3D content may we suggest the GPL Quake engine? Its 100% free to use for commercial as well as for fun. A rather nice gift from ID software, and which they themselves say has been amazingly overlooked, why not show us what you can do with it?"

indeed the Quake engine would be pretty powerfull in creating games for the GP2X. I would expect Quake to run at a minimum of 20fps given the increased specs over the GP32 and it could be improved even more with GP2X optimised design. There's near limitless potential of the kinds of games you can make with the Quake engine

Like... Chess? Archon!

Or say.... Half Life :p
Or say... Any 3d Game. Ive seen the code for the engine, and Ive made a 3d game once, and hopefully I can do something with it. First I gotta wait till the gp2x is released.

You better shut your mouth about anything you may have seen on a not yet ment to be public site, iam sure you can wait till tomorrow when it will likely be launched.
