I have the WORST idea for a game, and I think I'm going to debut it here.

Signal Hunter:

A sidescroller wherein the hero (or heroine) travels around the backcountry of Washington looking for adequate signal reception for their cell phone. The bars will fluctuate depending on where the character is on the 'map', and they have a specific time in which they are to make important phone calls. 'A' will be the 'call' button, and during the call they must keep the reception above 1 bar for the duration of the phone call, which will get longer as the game progresses, for difficulty. There will be a 'Jump' button, adding dimension to the game, forcing the player to go to great lengths (like finding ways to the tops of buildings) to get the best signal strength.

POS game, but interesting. An ode to all of us who live nowhere near a transmitter ;)

Not everyone. It sounds like it has the same sort of charming fuzzy feeling that things like Cool Spot and Pepsiman gives me.

(edit:by the way, it sort of reminds me of Elevator Action )

I presume that's a bad thing... It's a really terrible idea, but with some work, it could be a bit fun.

If anyone's chomping at the bit to play this POS game, don't look for it for a while, I have yet to install Linux on my HD, and learn to program.

Seriously, no - I love Pepsi Man and Cool Spot. They're addictive as all hell, and great fun. But they also both have major corporate sponsors. :)

So really, to make the game more fun, the game title should be 'Virgin Mobile: Signal Hunter'. ;)

This concept could be made better if you had enemies (like the Verizon "Can you hear me now" guy) that will attempt to shove you around once you establish a signal.

Like Avoid the Noid!!!!!!!!

Call it 'Patriot Act'. You are a film producer making a film involving drug dealers and terrorists. All your calls, when you can get a signal, involve the use of words like 'guns, cocaine and terrorists' and you have to avoid Dubya and his 'investigators'.

This sounds like a fair fun idea :) Are you thinking side-scroller or top-down scroller? My 2 cents are that top down would be better for more challenge actually finding the way to a specific location. I'd say go for it, although my judgement may be impaired by mild concussion (though I can't think why it would be)
