Terrible Battery Life

yep, the battery life is pretty duff. about an hour on shadowrun on the snes emu drained mine flat.

Same as any device -- good batteries = longer life.

People here are getting 4-5 hours with *good quality* Ni-MH rechargables, and even that will be increased by 20-30% when the firmware is fixed.

What worries me is that we have no idea how many people exactly that are getting 4-5 hours with good quality batteries. Just because a few people report it doesn't make it true for everyone. And if you have a unit with a cold soldering joint at the battery connectors you'll get bad battery life no matter what batteries you use. Well we'll know soon enough once more people start getting their units.

So... as I understand it, the movie player consumes the battery life quickest ( is this because af the constant access to the SD and/or is it using the 2nd processor ). And this 'should' be resolved when the SD access problem is fixed in the linux firmware.

Does using the music player eat batteries at the same rate ??

I'm gonna get me some arnsmann's today and give them a go cos I ain't getting no more than 15 minutes of uptime per battery set at the mo which is a bit of a shocker.

Still, at least I've got a GP2x to be eatin all these batteries I have lying around ;)

hold on... this is a kind of noob conjecture, but..
since the battery problem is nearly directly related to the tv-out function in the movie player, does that mean that the problem lies with the movie player, or the entire tv-out function?
and if it is with the entire tv-out function, why is the extreme battery drain only when you play movies? perhaps the tv-out is only for the vid player?

someone please prove me wrong.

Digging the 5 years old grave.. yeah

I've post'd the video with fake 3000mAh batteries from BTY bought on ebay in dec'2009 [ Tested on gp2x Battery checker ].
