I am doing this project to teach myself java and android programming. I am calling it cup of java and it will be in an episodic format where I spend sometime learning java. The format and the goals are still in flux. I would like some feedback and/or criticisms.

Cup Of Java

are you sure you don't want to learn sometimg like C or Python?

Today I read an article about two new leaks (AGAIN) xD

I just want Java to die!  ; )

I honestly think the Java language itself is pretty nice to program in.. the rest is the problem.

The problem is when you access an "evil" side, the Java exploit will automatically start and break trough your sandbox (I belive thats where the leaks are) and get access to your system. Plz note, I'm far from beeing an expert and I turned my back on Java a long time ago. Fortunately Adobe turned the safety from middle to max so the user needs to confirm the execution of Java stuff on each side. That meens your safe (for now) as long as you don't go to porn sides and klick ok, ok when a warning message pops up xD

next week, next leaks,  xD

^ Honestly never developed any Java software for Web use and from what I read it seems you're mixing up Adobe Flash and Oracle(previously Sun) Java.. what I  used to program was always swing GUI applications made for desktop use and such, mostly database interfaces that can work on the many platforms that seem to be floating around my work.. Like Solaris, OS/2, AIX, Linux and Windows anything you can install Java on. I have switched to python and perl using Tk  just because It's easier to make changes on the fly.

These applications of Java are as safe as any C or C++ program or as safe as the OS they are running on.

Exactly. Java applets may be unsafe, but on the other hand I don't think I've run into a java applet I needed to use since, oh - this side of the millenium?
