hi everybody
I recently buyed a Korg Monotron.
http://www.korg.com/monotron
that it's a diminute analog synth, just a little smaller than the gp2x.
I'm not a musician, but I like to generate sounds and noise for some audiovisual projects. and something as portable as this was just what I wanted.
as I had stopped using my gp2x for gamming a time ago, I started to wonder what could I get for making music with it (I already knew about a couple of apps).
and I came across some beutiful trackers and sequencers, they're really well done.
but what strike me the most was the lack of a synthesizer =(
even do the trackers and sequencers are useful for making music, I think they don't really turn your device into a musical instrument.
but a synthesizer does exactly that. you generate sound and music with it. and I think that gives another perspective to the device itself (it's not the same to be able to produce something with it, that to just reproduce).
in the archive I found a couple of apps that generate sounds, but they're on an early stage of development, or are just projects
gp2xPd - Puredata

so I guess this means that the gp2x is capable of doing synthesis of sounds, right?
my programming skills are VERY rudementary, so I ask: it's too difficult to accomplish something like a graphic synthesizer for the gp2x/wiz/pandora?
I came across this a time ago

the even do it's not the type of software I have in mind (that is too sfx oriented), perhapps it can be used to turn this amazing little devices we have into a musical instrument.
there are another free synths out there, with the source code available. but I think is gonna be difficult to just port them to this environments. some work has to be done to really use the controls and touchscreen.
perhapps something like a rudimental kaossilator? http://www.korg.com/kaossilator
hope something can be done, I know there is a really talented bunch of people here. that was what convinced me of buying the gp2x already 3 years ago. perhapps something like this can be groundbreaking for the scene, as I said before, I think that it adds another really new perspective to the devices itself.
cheers from Argentina
