I noted this on another thread, but it's probably a one which is hard to find so I wanted to note it here. I found that my Wifi would not come back up (not even turn on the light) after a suspend. Disable Wifi, enable, nothing. I could "ifconfig wlan0 up" and make the light come on, but nothing else.
Fiddled with it, and found that NetworkManager (the process) had gone away. When I ran it manually to restart it ("sudo NetworkManager") Wifi started working again.
Not sure why it went away, or even if it should. But it's way quicker to re-run it rather than reboot.
( guess I should note this is with xfce window manager.)
