Stupid 'r' Button Isn't Working!

Hi all!

Some of you might have seen me around for the last few months. About 2 weeks into when I got my GP32 I noticed that the 'R' button didn't always respond when I wanted it too, I noticed that if I pushed on the circular indentation of the R button it usually worked without a problem but If I pushed on the edge then it wouldn't work. Now it seems that it will only work if I push on the far left hand corner of the button for it to work. There isn't any *click* sound when I push the button anymore except when I push on the left hand corner. The L button is alive and kicking though.

Now, being that the GP32 is from Korea and that Lik Sang (I live in Hong Kong) does not have any GP32s at the moment, I'm assuming that I would probably have to send it to Korea. :(

It sounds like a simple enough problem, would it be possible for me to fix this by myself, would a local electronics repair shop be able to do it, I know the GP32 is not common, but a button problem is a button problem and the L & R buttons are placed in a similar fashion to a GBA isn't it?

Appreciate any advice you could give. Thanks!

Well, know that opening up your GP32 will ofcourse void your warranty. So my advice is to send it to whereever it came from, and get it fixed/replaced.

simple problem, simple fix, I bought my GP32 BLU from Lik-Sang and the R-Button didn't work either! But I took 4 screws off the back and simply bent the little metal prong underneath the r-button back up put the r-button back on and test it. It's REALLY easy, and a TON faster & cheper than sending it back to Japan. Good Luck!

Yes, I've done the same thing and now the R is even more responsive than L :D

only problem with that is you might break the metal clip off. Good fix tho i have heard of many people doing it.
What did was fold some paper up ans stuck it inbetween the clip and now it works like a charm

You'd have to use some serious force to snap that clip off, I'd think...
I just used 2 small screwdrivers and gently applied pressure to the one on the end,
it was fixed in under 2 minutes.

That is so funny! I got mine about 2-3 weeks ago from GBAX (after waiting forever.....;) ) and mine stopped responding last night :(:( I don't know if I want to open mine up though... grrrrrr this is SO annoying..

I had exactly the same problem with the R-button as Captainbubby since I got my GP last summer. But a couple of weeks ago it suddenly changed and is very responsive since then - I just have to touch it very softly and it always responds.

Now my A- and B-buttons are a bit worn out. They still always respond, but they feel "spongy"...

Oh crap, I'm starting to notice my R button is starting to get a little worn. I may have to bend that tab up soon...

I'm also worried about my A button, as it is starting to feel slightly slightly less clicky than B does.

There's an online place that you can order replacement button membranes, but I can't remember where.

I'm a little afraid to do anything to my gp32 right away, as I have a FLU, and I don't know if they're still available for purchase.

By the way, this is my 100th post. ^_^

My plastic clip and the metal thing fell off when I was fixing it :(

I'm thinking my wife pushed the buttons too hard when she was playing it.

Anyway, I've just posted a picture tutorial that I found on how to fix the Buttons.
