SquidgeLink

Yes, I can add a button bank with common operations/etc.

"send to" is a good idea, but not sure if I'll be able to implement it in the first release. I'll certainly remember it though.

As for long filenames - well, it will transfer the msdos part of the filename, if that's what you mean. So if you have a filename of "a really big filename.txt", it'll most likely end up on the gp32 as "areall~1.txt", although I think a feature to automatically resize filenames wouldn't go a miss (so it'll store it as areallyb.txt instead).

What's Sarien?

Ok, small update just in case you thought the project was dead

Now I know how everything works, and how to code it, I've completely rewritten it, so it's much easier to maintain. The old code was getting a little out of hand, but then again, it was only meant as a "Yes, I can do this, and this is how" kind of approach.

Here's a new screenie :)

Just a quick question. Can drag `n` drop be use ???
Yes, you can drag 'n' drop between the two boxes, and from explorer (so you can drag files from My Computer directly into the GP part of Squidgelink)

And I'm left thinking "Wow"...

Actually, I thought of another idea...

Any chance of adding in support for generic SMC readers *as though* they were GP32s (specifically for the purpose of reading SMCID from them, since there isn't a single tool I found to do that for the SMC other than using GPS2 again with the GP32 - though so far as I can tell there's little reason for this...)?

Yup. Well, I've had mine for 15 years now, how about yours?

As for retrieving SMC through a standard SMC reader - I don't think that's possible, as they are built with a generic driver model (Bulk data storage), so they don't support the commands required to do low-level things like SMCID retrieval.

I know how to do it with the GP32 because I looked in the BIOS and found out how it did it :)

This sounds great but won't work for me, so I am going to have to stick with PCLink a while longer.

When I clicked on the button within the app to populate the window with my GP32 files, my computer rebooted and gave me a message about recovering from a fatal error. I am using Windows XP. My GP32 had a message along the lines of 'Sending file list to PC' and then a 'Connection Lost' type error. I tried this twice and the same thing happened both times.

Since you are using WindowsXP, it sounds like you are using badly written drivers - have you tried the drivers supplied with Squidgelink? They are backwards compatible, but much more robust. The reason for this is that the software uses some advanced I/O operations which some versions of the GP32 driver don't support, and simply crash, taking your system with it.
