What you have to do is boot into the normal desktop and make sure to be connected to the internet.
Click on the pandora icon in bottom left to bring up the menu and click on terminal.
Type this in and hit enter

sudo opkg update
Then when that finishes type in and hit enter

sudo opkg install tzdata
Then when that finishes type this last part in and enter

sudo opkg install tzdata-asia
I'm not sure if this is the wrong way or it breaks anything but it has been working for me no problem. I was then able to go into the time zones and I have about 40 choices now for Asia. Bangkok being one of them.
