Snes emulator in development for GBA!!

To make one thing clear - if GP32 can't emulate something fast it doesnt mean it cant be done for GBA. GBA has much more bigger development scene and some of those guys are really genius. So dont compare it in that way. The best example is POcketNes - fantastic fullspeed/fullsound NES emulator for GBA (16 MHZ). And with all respect to all NES emus for GP32 programmers (I really appreciate your work), but all GP32 emus works on 133MHZ and there are still slowdowns in some games.
But to clear your doubts, i've talked with a few GBA devvers, and they all say that from their point of view and GBA knowledge, SNES is rather not possible at presented on video speed.

LitteJohn is a perfect emulator for NES on GP32.

The NES runs at 1.6Mhz or so, so nobody's disputing the power of the GBA, just that it's incredibly unlikelythat a working, decent speed SNES emulator would ever come out for the GBA.

It would be nice to believe it (I have a GBA too!) but I'm not getting suckered into this one - the GP32 will always be a better emulation console than the GBA!

Look at the difference between fSMS on GP32 (a quick emu done by Ryleh with little real optimization) and the SMS emu on Gameboy that has a shitload of optimization.

Just a thought,
There do exist these little video in adaptors for the GBA that enable you to display any composite video signal on the little GBA screen. It enables you to use the GBA as a lcd monitor.
......not an emulator but a fake-video made with such a system?

It appears as if the video is running on a GBA emulator, in which case it makes sense that it runs full speed. Since the PC running the emulator could be a P4 3.2Ghz for all that we know.

NES emulation for GP32 probably doesn't have a lot of ARM speed-ups. Definately the same for SNES emulation. I believe PocketNES probably has a LOT of smart tricks to get it working well. If we had the development scene of GBA, we would have had far more impressive stuff by now.

Anyway, what is this doing in News Zone? It's Off Topic.

Hm, I've worked in a SNES emulator, and I have to say that thing is either real or a very complex hoax.

I'd love to get my hands on that ARM7 65c816 emulation --;

What we need is a European Launch... I'd love to see the boards flooded with newbies and the like, because I'd know that for every 50 new newbies there'd be one who could code, And for every 5 who could code at least one or maybe even 2 of them would take the time to make something for the GP32. The main reason why GBA has such a good development community is because of it's popularity (no wonder). If the GP32 was anywhere near that popular it would het twice as much development simply beacuse it's open source and is all-in-all better suited for emulation. Damn I wish GamePark would DO something!

I'm completely guessing on those numbers BTW, but it seems that one rlyeh or FluBBa coming to GP32 out of every 200 newbies would be more than enough for the development scene

yep. its released. Pretty amazing really. Can anybody try it and compare it to Opensnes9?
I'm sure it wont be anywhere near as good as Opensnes, but some people on Gbaemu.com seem to think its nearly as good. (although they have probably never tried Opensnes.)

well, its not that good, most games wont even run, but those that do, run amazingly fast. Gooftroop even ran faster than in os9xgp (SERIOUSLY!!!). I hope this emu gets further developement, but its an awesome start. But i still cant play Starwing (or Star fox in US) :p . But you can say, that its not as good as os9xgp, since the compatibility is low. But as i said before, its an amazing piece of software, because everyone said "SNES wont EVER be possible on GBA". Loopy proved them wrong (yeah, loopy, you´re great!)

Yep, i cant belive, but it'is true. Even my firends, GBA owners, are shocked by this event :) And to make one thing clear - there is no vhance to port it to GP32. Probably as in PocketNes - source is too much GBA hardware based, so even if it happens that loopy release sources, it wont be rather usable for gp32.

awww this is quite disturbing news i hope some new super versions of os9xgp come out though dont get me wrong i still think its fantastic at its current level
