I consider that Kettle Chips are to the Crisp World what Bagels are to bread. Sweaty imposters that serve no purpose. I would ask you:

1) Are Kettle Chips worthy of membership to the Crisp dynasty

2) Bagels? You are having a laugh aren't you? etc....

I have sent a link of this to a friend of mine who I have been discussing the issue with so I would appreciate any input.

She asked me why Kettle Chips weren't real crisps. I told her that like bagels they not real within their supposed field, they know it and are sweating because they are scared they will be found out.

;)

Kettle chips are definitely in the crisp category, as they are thinly sliced potatoes, deep fried and include salt and other flavourings. As bagels are in the bread category, as they are wheat flour in nature and rise when baked. I ask you: is corn bread in the bread category (aside from the moniker it has attained)?

This reminds me of some crisps I picked up in the lakes district a few years ago... Pickled onion flavor. That was sweettastic.

I am not questioning the membership of either on an ingredients basis.

More a moral/too much time on my hands type stance.

Sorry if I didn't make this clear.

Well, then I'd suppose you're right, on the grounds that both indeed do sweat, for their fear of not belonging in each respective category (though I haven't met a bagel that sweats profusely).

Experiment 1:
Every hour, on the hour, for a day, warn an unopened bag of Kettle Chips that their disguise will soon be discovered, and that they're in for it. You could also threaten and say you will report them to the Lay's impostor police if they don't out themselves. After 24 hours, open the bag.
Control for Experiment 1: Place another bag out of earshot. Open after 24 hours.
Conclusion will be drawn at comparison, if the experiment "chips" are distinctly sweatier than the control crisps, then it is safe to call the Lay's impostor police. They will remove the bags safely from the premeses and store them in a locked vault.

Lays are the same as walkers, right, since they both have the same logo?

...not at all.

1) Kettle chips rock.

2) Bagels are the best damn thing on the planet, spesh with an egg wedged in the middle.

p.s. R.I.P. Golden Wonder :(

Kettle Chips are not just a member of the dynasty. They are, per se, at the upper echelons of the guild of snacks. Delicious but deadly.

im sorry, i agree kettles are extremely tasty, but by far the best crisp available is the johnathon crips. Stylish packaging, unique, give you the air of an intellectual crips eater. and as far as budget, 30p a pack crisps go, seabrook is the king.

Never heard of Jonathan Chrisps, but a glance at their website (www.jonathancrisp.co.uk) shows that they look delicious, and apparently they usually deliver them.

Damn you, this thread is making me HUNGRY!

The best crisps I've ever eaten were these Roast Beef and Mustard ones. I can't remember the brand name unfortunately, and I've never seen them since :( They came in a sort of thicker foil bag than usual, and the crisps temselves were thick- and crinkled I believe. I'm a vegetarian so you wouldn't think I'd like 'em, but truth be told they taste mostly of mustard... mmm mustard... they were quality crisps...

Sorry, what were we talking about again?

Kettle crisps are alright... Dunno about Bagels, never had one. The king of the bread family is the Geordie originating Stotty Cake, which is sloooowly moving out from the place of it's birth to the rest of the country ;)
