GP2X Smp Setup

Wow the PSP is $350? If you paid that much you got had. Usually they are around $250 and will be $199 soon.
Depends where in the world you are. In Australia it is currently around $384.

$384 USD or Australian?

Highlighted :)

Trooper

That doesn't answer anything. He could have converted it to USD to illustrate how much extra it costs there, because with the exchange rate is only about $30 more than it is in the United States and nowhere near $350USD.

Actually, although I'm pretty sure what your saying - his request was completely valid as there is still a level of ambiguity as to whether or not your quoted price is in Australian or US dollars. Or if that doesn’t make sense to you here’s a slightly enhanced quote:

ARE YOU FUCKING RETARDED? Seriously, instead of being an ass about it, reread that. JUST BECAUSE HE IS IN AUSTRALIA DOESN'T MEAN HE'S GIVING THE PRICE IN AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS.

Let's go over the conversation again, shall we?

Series-8 says the PSP is $350 dollars, presumably USD. DaveC responds that it should only cost $250, again, presumably in USD. Slygamer says it costs $384 in Australia, but does not specify which currency is used. My question was whether this was in Australian dollars, thereby being a relatively small price increase for a small, relatively isolated market (compared to the much larger NA and European markets) or if it was in USD, making it a huge ripoff for that market and making Series-8's price claim look slightly more reasonable by comparison.

I know, this can be tough to follow, but do try to keep up.

I suppose that was really called for then?.
I made the text LARGER because i thought you missed it in my post.

How retarded is that ?.

Trooper

No, I caught it completely. However what you missed in my posts twice now is that just because he's in Australia doesn't mean he's talking about Australian dollars, especially since the context of the prices mentioned were in USD. And on top of that you felt the need to be a smartass about it.

Actually I hadent noticed that the price had gone down, so I'll revise it again:

They will both be setup for video playback, something I think they both have even footing on.
(A fairER comparison, I think)

All prices in USD United States Dollars ($).

$229 Sony PSP Standard Pack (HW, battery + charger)
$49.99 X2 Battery pack
$14.95 Case
$98.90 TV Adapter Kit
$119.90 Memory Stick PRO Duo 1GB

Total $512.74

$179 GP2X (what DOES come in the pack anyways?!?)
$9.99 TV Cable
$16.90 Case
$84.90 1GB SD Card
$18.47 Maha C204F Battery Charger
$9.97 Energizer NiMH 2500mAh AA (4 cells)
Total $319.23

You could throw in a Multi-card reader, at about $20.
Those however are external of the devices. (and don't really contribute to cost much anyways)
Taxes, S/H et al. dont count because they are highly variable.
I also would have thrown in a game, but GP2X does not seem to have many commerical games yet.

Err, it was AUD$384. :)

Which is equivalent to USD$281 at current exchange rates.

I'll stop causing RETARDED flamewars now. :)

Edit: Just one note. I found in a mobile phone retailer's catalogue this morning that they are offering a free PSP with a Nokia 6170 mobile phone if you go on a 24-month contract. You pay $9 a month for the phone, and $38 a month for calls, for 24 months. And you get a free PSP. Oh, all prices quoted are in AUD$ (because I live in Australia and I think in Australian dollars). But I think $0 is the same everywhere. :)

@ Ravnos: Do i get an apology now ?.

Trooper

No. I didn't react rudely because you said it was AUD, but because you were a smartass about it. When I get an apology for that, you'll get yours.

How was i being a smartass ?.

You asked if it was aus $, I highlighted his (slygamers) post, And i put a smiley at the end too.

You said my reply did not help, So i posted it again, But this time i used enlarged letters, Because his post mentioned Australia, It seemed logical that he ment Aus $. And thats how i read his post. Nothing smartass about that.

I read the gigantic post as the equivalent of Chris Tucker in Rush Hour shouting "DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE WORDS THAT ARE COMING OUT OF MY MOUTH", which is pretty condescending and rude. While we know now that he did mean Aus$, and it was a logical conclusion, given the context of the discussion USD was not an unreasonable conclusion either and I was curious as to just how much more expensive a PSP was in Australia.
