Yeah, so this is an odd one, but I had an idea... (Sorry if this is in the wrong area)

Do any GP2X owners on here live or work in Central London?

Here's my thinking: I am very tempted to buy the GP2X, but before I do, I'd really like to see it, hold it, touch it (gently), like I would with almost any other piece of tech hardware I invest in...

But I don't know anyone who owns one.

Is there someone (or many) who would be willing to meet me at lunchtime or after work, in central London, and show me their GP2X in real life, running all the cool stuff and everything...?

I really think that would speed up my umming and ah-ing about buying one...

Random, I know.

thanks,
simon

PS I'll buy you a pint...

for a pint, I'll WALK from here in the North of Scotland !!

Seriously, don't be such a wuss and get one.
You won't regret it. Probably costs about the same as a pint in Central London anyways :p

i got a gp2x without ever touching one, all i saw was a random demo on gbax.
If the idea tempts you of having movies, emulaters, homebrew games, music is your pocket. just go for it.

You are, of course, bang on about london pint prices...

...which is exactly why i can't go splashing out c.£150 on a GP2X and accessories unless i'm 100% sure....

well, i'll take 97%...

I purchased my GP2X without seeing it prior.

If you like the idea of..

DivX/XVid Movies
MP3 (der)
Homebrew
Emulators

then go ahead and get it. It only cost me $150 US from lik-sang.com, $188 US at my door with tv out and screen protector hehe. I grabbed a 1GB Tracend (50X) for $20, $25 at my door.

Prices are US - unit from Lik-sang, card from Newegg.com

If you had asked a week ago I would of shown you mine wile I was in London staying with my aunt but I think It would of looked a little dodgy you buying a fourteen year old a pint.

I ordered mine from Lik-sang (for delivery in Edinburgh). Cost £80 plus I paid for super-fast delivery, which was an additional £15. So just under £95 in total.

Only problem is, if I ever have something go wrong, it has to go all the way back to HK!

KidCapricorn ........... I work in Central London & have a GP2X. I work very close to Tottenham Court Road Station. You'd be more than welcome to have a look at the machine.... over a pint! Send me a PM & we'll discuss further!

This sounds uncomfortably like something that people used to say to each other behind the bike sheds at school.

Can people in England order from lik-sang ?? If so isn't it only like 88 pounds ?

It can be a bit risky with the tax man though, the basturd got me for over 20%
I suppose you could email them to see if they could mark it up as a gift.

Looks like Shiffy could be the lucky winner since i'm based fairly central, but if anyone is keen to scoot into town we could stage a GP2X-off in a pub somewhere....

Or at least I could witness a real live argument about firmware and joysticks.... and I could compare 3 different GP2Xs.... ooooh.

Thanks everyone!

I was thinking that, but I kinda figured you would be the one to mention it ;).

If you add the qoute above, it begins to look even worse   . And not a little more dodgy.
