Sega Saturn Import Console...

it's a very easy trick to make an unmodded saturn play burns

How the hell do you do that?

Whats the point of copying Saturn games? They are cheaper than CDR's now lol. I picked up a whole bunch of games from Computer Exchange for 50 pence each!
except if you actually want to play good games and not FIFA 98.

try and find me Radiant Silvergun or Panzer Dragoon Saga or Albert Odyssey for a couple of quid. You can't.

Just to confirm:

Swaptricking with a Saturn works on any CD-R. At least, my PAL saturn does, model 2.

All you need is another legitimate Saturn CD to your region, and a backup, or import of a Saturn game. If you have a backup, you need to patch it to your console's region. If you have an import, i'm pretty sure you can download a boot disk to swap. If not, make an image of it, patch the image, re-burn the image and there you go.

Of course, an Action Replay 4 in 1 cart completely removes the need for patching as it changes the region itself. :) *Hugs his cart*

wait!!
i have a jap saturn(my 'cool' le saturn came in this mornign *hugs cool saturn*)! what exactly do i need for the swap trick? just a boot disk?! i don't wanna beat up my beauty with swaps, i hope it's not too bad.
i'm buying all my games, but i just wanna play RSG and see what the hype is(no way i'm paying over $200 for it).

thaaaanks and later

ps. i needs a camera :(

All you need is an original disc and the copy.

I chipped my saturn a month or so back, it was the easiest install ever, only one wire to solder. I have a spare chip lying around too...

Check out SegaXtreme for information on the swap trick.

the swap trick is easy, however if you just want to use that, you really should look at getting a 4 in 1 cart as well, it makes it a bit easier, and of course you need that if you don't want to patch all your games for whatever region your system is.

The 4 in 1 cart 'breaks up' the swap trick a little and gives you some more time to do it, as well as helping you to determine at what exact point to swap.

I've tried doing it w/o the 4 in 1 and it is still doable but it's a bit harder and sorta... I dunno... more frantic.

I've heard a lot of people say that swapping discs like this will evetually burn out the CD motor. Though I don't play my Saturn THAT often, I did play it quite a bit especially after I got Radiant Silvergun (tip, if you really want to see why this game is so great, do NOT play the arcade mode, as unlimited credits makes it way too easy, and you don't get to play ALL the stages), as well as a few other import shooters I found like Sokyugurentai, and have yet to have it do any damage.

yeah, soukyogurentai is next on my hit list. right now i ordered layer section and sonic r.

tahnks for the tips.

edit:
the chip takes one wire to solder?! wow, that is easy. what is the name of that chip and got any links to it?
thansk

Sonic R is great, one of my fav saturn games. The 2 imports I have, i have a 4-1 card, I have Vampire Savior and Gun Griffon. Gun Griffon is a very fun mech game and it's pretty cheap on ebay, i bought it for $5 + $5 Shipping, so only $10 for it.

Racketboy sells the chip, I know him from a differant scene so you can trust him.

There is not a 100% success rate with the chip, it just refuses to work on some systems, so it isn't his fault if it doesn't work in yours.

well, forget the white and the grey, i picked up a 'this is cool' transparent black saturn :)
now i'm off to pick up those shmups

Piccies please. :)

Trooper

finally got a digicam..fav game inside

That is cool, I'd rather have a Hi- saturn though.

I've been using the swap trick for years and it works fine the best thing to do it just remove the top of the saturn and do it that way, it makes it easier to flip the discs off which is less likely to slow the motor down and cause a burn out.

No, I don't think the Brazillian ones have 'this is cool' printed on them. The 'this is cool saturns' are limited editions and it would be rather odd of a company to start mass producing them all of a sudden.

Ah right, I thought that "this is cool" was just some lame phrase that was put on it by them.

You've got to admit though, they look practically identical, probably would be alot cheaper for a tectoy one too.

Yeah there are loads of different versions,

Skeleton
This is cool
Hi Saturn
V Saturn
Japanese white
Japanese Grey
US/Pal Version 1 with the oval buttons.
US/Pal Version 2 round grey buttons and new shape controller.

I think there might be a few more but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

I'd guess the saturns are still being sold since the megadrive and two master systems are still being sold.

What exactly is the Pal verson 1 saturn anyway, I picked one up for £1 at a car boot but I never saw any in the shops, only the second version with the small controller.
