This popped up in my feed and I thought it was really cool. It's a MegaDrive arcade machine that accepts credit cards!

I have found out that it was used in hotels similar to a PPV service, hence the credit card slot, Vintropedia only has it as worth 35GBP but of course not set in stone.

I wonder how much it charged to play?

From the Saturn article said:
There are quite a few of these pay-to-play units released for hotel use in Japan. Both the Famicom and Super Famicom had one, as did SNK's Neo Geo system. SNES and Nintendo64 units were available in North American hotels also.

Wow, impressive. I like such stuff, the companies were pretty creative to milk their cows. :D Besides that, there are alot of interesting special versions of well known Videogame Machines, does anyone remember the Sega Mega Drive PC? Or this Special Nintendo Gamecube/Panasonic Multimedia thingy?

I also remember that the famous NeoGeo once be made exclusive for Hotels and Video Stores to rent, but not for sale. Of course this didn't stop the fans to get one. ^^

I remember reading about the SEGA PC in magazines many moons ago, the GameCube multimedia thing I've read about on rarest console articles, there was the PlayStation thing the PSX too, I love finding out about these extra consoles companies made.

I've got the Nintendo hotel super famicom box, weighs a ton, all metal, about 12.5 Kg.

Like this one:

Bloody hell! I must admit it is very cool, I didn't realise there were so many hotel models for consoles, I might check out a few others soon when I have an extra splash of cash.

I doubt that neogeo Hotel console is a stock build. Looks more like something an arcade supplier built with a license, a professional supergun. It's obviously an mvs looking at the cart and these carts are meant for arcades. So more like a huge but beautiful consolized mvs. you can make one yourself fairly cheap. And mvs games are affordable unlike their aes counterparts.

Edit: i would love to have a super Famicom like that! Does it work with Region Adapters for NTSC and euro pal games? Is there a Nintendo Video out as well so one could get RGB out?

Yeah it also uses maybe the biggest cartridges you have ever seen.  Check them out below.  And they are their own cartridge in the trueist sense, ie there isn't the smaller cartridges inside them, their pcb pretty much takes up the whole size of them.

There were a number of these hotel boxes for Nintendo, Sega etc. Here's another more common nintendo one:

If you ever go to Japan, visit the Super Potato store in Akihabara. They have both Nintendo hotel systems above setup to play.

... This is not good.

I'm starting to get a "must-start-to-collect-hotel-consoles" itch...

Worryingly so am I... I could easily prove that I have more money than sense with the list of consoles I've seen in this thread.
