Sd Formats

can the 2x read a hfs (mac) formatted SD card? or just a fat format (or any general windows format?)

well linux can read hfs formats (but i think it is with some extra libraries...idk) so yeah ill fat format it instead (thanks)

The full version of linux can (hfs+ needs third party modules IIRC, but standard hfs is in the default kernel) but it's rare for an embedded kernel to have it compiled in... not much call for it, since OSX can read Fat32 just fine.

fat is a lousy filesystem for sd cards though, ext2 is a far better choice.

I would base the formating of the SD filesystem on the type of computer you plan to use it with.

If you have a windows computer, use FAT32. If you run a Linux machine, go with ext2.

Also If you plan on installing GPE for the GP2X I would go with ext2. That way you can forego the slow down associated with having to format your card as FAT32, then GPE having to convert its FAT32 image file to ext2 so the GPE kernel can use the files in it.
