Screen Upside Down? View Angle Is Better From Top.

Ok so the image sucks but does anybody else have the same problem.

When I look at the screen straight on it looks fine. (middle image)
Tilt the top of the unit away from you as if you are holding it normally and the screen gets darker and the colours start to mess up. (top image)
Tilt the top of the unit towards you and the colours and brightness stay acceptable for a much longer time. (bottom image)

It's almost like the screen is installed upside down. When playing darker games like quake it's almost unplayable when the console is held at a natural angle.

P.s I tried to search so if you want to be a search nazi please point me at the topic not just tell me to search.

Do search-nazi's get to wear spiffy uniforms?

But i would not put it past GPH to install LCD the wrong way around, if there infact is a right way around... :)

It's an opinion thing, and I'm almost certain it's due to shadows from the backlight.

My opinion is it'd be better the other way, but doesn't make much difference.

I don't find it all that troubling, if I set it down to watch movies, my angle is high anyway because I prop it up.

I also remember playing a Game Gear for hours at a time, now THAT had a viewing angle problem. It seemed like the viewing angle lived in about 2°, I can live with the GP2X just fine.

I notice the LED backlights are VERY noticable upside down, not very nice imho.

That happens on my laptop screen too, and I'm pretty certain that isn't upside-down. Oddly, my phone screen goes the opposite way.

I completly agree, I was going to post exactly the same thing.

The best example of this is quake, it starts by default very dark before you turn the brightness up. If you turn the top of the unit away from you its almost impossible to see anything, turn the top towards you and its much brighter.

Maybe people can start talking about drilling new holes in the PCB amd turning it 45 degrees, like they know anything about electronics engineering and PCB manufacture.

Is it even possible to put a LCD in upside down? I highly doubt it can be put in a different way then it was intended for without re wiring it or having the OS flip the image (waste of processor).

Interesting find though, might just be how the backlight is placed (as it varys from electronic to electronic)

For me, it sounds like the problem of the protect film GPH included.

My suggestion is, DO NOT USE that one.

The LCD protector (thicker one) is ok, but the film is too reflective. Well, that's okay if you use it in a dark room, but outside, you probably cannot see anything.

Yes, most LCDs include my expensive laptop also don't look so nice if you try to look at them outside under sunnyday light.

But if you change the film with less reflective one (there are some non-reflective films), then with highly-bright GP2x LCD, you can see screen much more cleary.

And I believe it might also help your 'Up-side-down' problem. :)) well.... may not)
