Hi there,
Some time ago I posted about whether it would be possible to get Scilab working on the Pandora. Now that I have one, I was able to install it via PanDebian and it runs! One big problem right now is that no graphics will render. Scilab complains that my graphics card does not support OpenGL, which is what Scilab uses to plot things and draw UI controls.
Does anyone have any idea if this can be made to work? Here is what I did:
Format an SD card as ext3
Intall Pandebian (Squeeze) directly to the card (no loopback)
(I also put a swap partition on that card figuring Scilab might be memory hungry sometimes, depending on what it's crunching, but this isn't required)
Using Synaptic, install Scilab
That's it!
It appears to be running just fine, except for the lack of graphics, that is.
