I have some questions.

Are these sorts of events fairly common over there?

Are there many people who don't have booths there?

Who seems most interested in the Pandora at these shows, young people (kids/early 20s) or older people?

Do you guys sell anything, or is it just to try it out and share info?

In the second to last picture in post 2 what sort of controller is being used in the foreground (just curious)?

What is the game being displayed on the TV in the last pic?

Thanks for sharing these.

My guess is an OUYA controller. fantomid mentioned he was getting a few working for the show.

Correct. Thanks again for the config file.

Will try to answer the other questions later.

Arrived at home after about 4h of motorway. Good retrogaming week-end to promote the pandora, the pyra and the community.
Linux-SWAT may have other things to add.
Will not forget to answer the questions after some sleep

These events are not common. In fact, since the end of 2013, we began in South of France some advertising.

Capitole du Libre (Open source conference) in November (Toulouse) - Linux-SWAT, ptitSeb (I am in the organisation team of this event)

Toulouse Game Show (Video games, cosplay, ...) in December (Toulouse) - Linux-SWAT, ptitSeb, fantomid

Pix & Tech, (Innovation, video games, cosplay, video games tournament) in May (Nîmes) - Linux-SWAT, ptitSeb, fantomid with magic_sam support

Retrogaming Show (Retrogaming and cosplay) in June (Marseille) - Linux-SWAT, ptitSeb, fantomid

RMLL (Open source conference) in July (Montpellier) - actually, Linux-SWAT, fantomid and ED

I don't know if more orders are taken from France after these events. But it was always two very pleasant days to meet people, get contacts and present all the works done by all of us.

Young, middle age and old people are interested.

Some are happy to see the Pandora. They heard of it at the beginning, didn't follow the project, and finally see it during an event.

Others are interested in the discovery. A little "laptop" device in a Nintendo DS casing.

Many are impressed by the emulation power of the Pandora (Dreamcast, PSP, N64).

But the Starcraft story (thanks notaz) is the most impressive.

Do you guys sell anything, or is it just to try it out and share info?
We were authorized to sell but following ED decision, we don't sell anything. Most of time, we are at events to share information and present community, Pandora and now Pyra.

What is the game being displayed on the TV in the last pic?
Don't know exactly. Maybe Linux-SWAT could answer. On the TV, we show Drastic with MetalSlug 7 and Reicast with Shenmue and the video presentation of the Pandora.

Lot of booths were for retrogaming, video games and geek stuffs shop. All the booths were in the same place.

What I was asking is if there were many people other than vendors and such.  For example, were there people there as consumers, I guess?  Probably a stupid question, now that I think about it.

I wish there were retrogaming shows near me.  I doubt I could attend them, though.  Most of the people I know locally who are gamers (or into computers) only seem to care about the newest games or most powerful hardware.  It leaves me feeling a bit isolated at times.  We do have 2 stores that sell old console games and hardware.  Maybe I should go stalk the customers who wander into those sections of the stores.

Well, you could start a little event. In a school, for example.
I have considered that, and actually it might be best to get with the small business that sells old games and stuff because they get more customers and I don't have to do everything myself.  Our libraries do odd little things from time to time (like a mini-con with talks, contests, cosplay etc).  If I could find other people who were interested I might see if we could get a small group meet periodically.

Why don't I just do it all myself?  Very little free time to go out in the real world and get stuff like this going.  I have seriously considered getting a Tetris competition going here, but over the last year I haven't had time.  I nearly always have a Game Boy of some sort, so if I get stuck waiting somewhere I can make/pull out a sign announcing a random competition for all who bring a copy and a Game Boy.
