Hi guys - I dont really post very much (hence the low number!), since most of the time I dont need to - some1 has already said it better in a previous post and I just then read the replies... But I was thinking about remakes of old windows or DOS games for the GP32 after the C&C remake released a short while ago (I know its not a direct remake etc but its pretty close!) and I was reminded of possibly 1 of the best games ever made for the PC -> X-Com: UFO Enemy Unknown.

Graphically its not amazing but is slightly complicated due to more than 1 level and some of them are massive, especially in base defences, but I was wondering if it were possible? I would do it myself but I really dont have the time (I do a physics degree!) and dont have enough GP32 dev experience (mainly windows).

If it were possible and some 1 did a decent (or even bad!) remake of this brilliant classic I would probably worship them forever, and then probs get proper angry with them coz I would spend all my time playing it instead of working! lol.

Anyway, I would really appreciate some replies about this - thx!

If you really want X-Com on your GP32, you should probablly look to port some other open-source project to the GP32. Otherwise, you'd either have to create your own X-Com clone or create/port a DOS emulator.

Check these for starting points.

UFO 2000 - Open-Source, Multiplayer, Battle Engine that uses X-Com datafiles.

Alien Invasion - Open-Source? Based on the Quake2 Engine? I really don't know anything about this one, but it looks cool.

DOSBox - Open-Source DOS Emulator that would (in theory) allow you to run old games like X-Com.

Yeah I think ur right, if DOsbox was made for the GP32 then we could also play games like Dune 2 on the GP32 - which would also be amazing...

Alien Invasion looks well good but its unlikely that the GP32 has enough MHz to process everything since the graphics are pretty nice. Also, as I said in the first post I dont have enough time to port the stuff myself so I'll just have to wait for some1 else to do it! Thanx for ur reply man.

X-Com is a classic game :) very fun! I'm not too sure if anybody has reverse engineered the whole system as to make a clone but it would be very cool to see :)
Or maybe we'll have to mail bomb microprose until they decide the gp32 is a system deserving of there programs :) (just joking!!!!)
