save space on your memory card and watch the movies in safe mode without any troubles...
when i just watched a movie on my gp2x in safe mode, most movies didnt run smooth, means alot of sound problems and frame skip.. and i'am too lazy to use a command line tool with 372940237 switches.. so i found avidemux.. great and easy-to-use tool.. here the settings i used to re-encode a dvd rip to a gp2x "conform" format:
video, xvid4:
configure: main, encoding type=Single pass - bitrate, Target bitrate: 350
configure: motion estimation, Motion search precision = 6
filters, MPlayer resize: 320*170 (for a dvd, if you re-encode a 4:3 tv rip you can use 320*240)
audio, lame:
configure: CBR, 96kbits
filters, resampling 48 to 44,1kHz
The filesize will be reduced to 200-300mb.
avidemux can be found here: http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/ and is aviable as win and linux version...
cheers!
