So, would porting android to the pandora be possible? Is anyone thinking about this? It seems like a fairly decent hardware platform for it. Could it be possible to boot android from an SD card or something like that? Just wondering.

Some searching may enlighten, but the short is..

Yes, it can be ported.

In the past, cpasjuste did a quick port to show it worked (he had it going with touchscreen etc), but theres lots to do to make it a solid port (kernel stuff, I'm not going to elaborate here.)

That said, there are several forms of Android; it is doutbful we coudl get a licensed one, so no Android Store or Google Apps, but a basic Android port, sure, not a problem beyond time for someone to do it.

in my infinite noobness I am trying/going to try and port it, but I haven't the slightest idea of what I'm doing.....

but... if someone is going to take the effort of porting it... if I could suggest it, port cyanogenmods port of android 2.2 froyo on the moto droid located here http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/forum/38-motorola-droid-experimental-mod/

similar hardware and "plug and play" google bits... (the market and stuff)... so um ... yes please if someone were to port android... and knows more about what they are doing than I do... do this one... you'd be my all time hero
