Spray, don't be cold, he was only asking for help, even if he did do it in the wrong forum, you don't have to be a w***** about it..!
Sadako, your pretty new here, im guessing you haven't been witness to sam fisher's posting habits.

he floods the forums with random rubbish and posts over and over again in his OWN threads when no one else shows an interest.

one look over the general talk first couple of pages will show you the sort of stuff he posts and the frequency with which he does it.

i'm not berating him based purely on this thread, though to be honest it just an ongoing saga of his inability to host a torrent site and keep it properly maintained.

so next time, read up before you start calling names...

I don't see how that is relevant to anything, or if it is any of your business!
let the guy answer his by himself, he doesnt have to answer it if he doesnt want and can easily ignore it.

Well, next time, can't you attempt to be a little nicer to someone who you are not fond of? I know, I am such a hypocrite, so, sorry for calling you a w*****.

I can advise one thing. Go to your local WHSmiths (or similar) and pick up a Linux magazine that has a bootable distro on the cover (they all do right now, but read first). For instance I got a Mandrake bootable CD, no installation, all boots from the CD.
This will allow you to mount your documents folder within linux, then use this to burn a CD or something (never hurts to have back-ups does it?).

I know you may not be used to linux, but I used this disc the other day to get the files of my mates computer when Windaz fucked up. If I didn't have this disc he would have lost all of his work.

Just a suggestion.

its quite ok.

i'll happily to the same to sam fisher and apologise for any times i have been unpleasant to him the second he apologises for the crap hes posted on the boards.

i couldn't ask where your from could i sadako?

i only ask as i notice you have some form of asian in your sig, my limited western understanding hints that you may therefore understand korean.
Hando (the gp32x.de owner) is currently looking for a korean speaker to help him with news items is all!

if you cant get access to the files you need to convert the drive to FAT32, it will remove the security's set by NTFS and you can gain access to the files...

the program I use for this is partition magic, but its not free, so you'll have to look around for an alternative... I'm too tired right now to be bothered to look for you... so try google... and dude dont need to reply a million times to your thread... gah!

accesing ntf from linux is realy no problem only writing
as far as i read, Captive even covers that :D
they made it via reactos (project to create w2k-compatible os; very cool) and wine (wine - a program (not emulator ^^) that allows you to run windows-apps on linux)
Edit: *arf*

Just to keep this on topic ;).

How to get the files back :D!

If you're running WinXP and the documents you want to 'own' are on an NTFS partition, go into Tools -> Folder Options -> View, at the bottom of the Advanced settings list disable "Use simple file sharing" (not simple networking as I sugested before) and hey presto you now have access to the Security tab when you right click -> Properties on a folder and can set the NTFS ACL permissions there (including taking ownership from your old SID).

This works the same way as all other NT based OS's once "Use simple file sharing" is disabled.
