PETSCII Art.

I love petscii art (d0h) and I think it's a true art-form.
There's lots of jaw dropping examples from people with a complete disregard for limitations..

I must admit the first game that blew my mind in that way was Parodius MSX. Given the SNES game was technically the sequel the predecessor game did a hell of a lot of the same stuff just using ascii graphics!

Edit: To be fair, it is using sprites. Those sprites apart from end of level bosses are mainly only slightly larger than character size.

It's pretty impressive to see what some people can do with the same platform limitations as others, but have way more impressive visuals and sounds.

Wow. Thanks for the links. Petscii stuff is a totally new artfrom to me, i had no idea this existed to this extent. The coke and burger is mind blowing. What am I saying. All of them are mind blowing. The Rhino one alone could be framed and looked amazing on a wall.

I just watched a long play of this. Wow, that is trippy.
There's so much more where that came from :)

Thanks for that Mike Mignola link, so Hellboy is his huh? Very nice style!

Here's a link for you to make your own petscii, we expect results within 24 hours! :)

Woooooooow. That is next level. How beautiful in an unearthly sort of way.

Thank you for that link.

For anyone wondering what the fuss is about, the reason that I like this artists work is the same reason that I like Mike Mignolas work. Both artists are able to use combinations of unique abstract shapes + unique colour schemes to perfectly paint an image that is self contained. Not only are both artists masters at their craft and achieved a kind of sublime artistic maximum, their art is self contained in a way that if you add a line or delete a line, the piece is less than the optimum achieved by the artist him self.

There are A LOT of artists that are inspired by Mike Mignola, but not a single one ever comes close to what he has achieved. Same with this petscii artist ... at least in my opinion. Well at least for now, I will have to keep on exploring this artform.
