When a developer releases a game or application, they might name it according to the target platform.

Existing gp2x naming conventions I've seen are:

gp2x<APP> (example: gp2xPaint)
<APP>gp2x (example: uae4allgp2x)
<APP>2x (example: Gmenu2x)

Some Possible Pandora naming conventions:

Pandora<APP> (example: PandoraQuake ?)
P<APP> (example: Pdosbox ?)
<APP>_OP (example: TuxRacer_OP ?)

Of course people can name things whatever they want, but what naming conventions do you think will used for Pandora releases of games and applications?

I'm kind of partial towards the prefix Dora. I think that Pandy will be popular as well.

after this thread has matured a little we can create a poll like this:

1st question : As a dev would you like to use the naming convention?
1. I would adhere to a standard naming convention
2. I would like to choose my own program name instead of following a naming convention
3. I'm not a dev

2nd Question: As a user, would you like a naming convention?
1. Yes, it would keep things organized.
2. No, i want more freedom to the devs and i'm willing to read the manual.
3. It wouldn't make a difference to me.

What about this?

Nah, just name it whatever you want. If the name's Pandora-related, fine - if not, equally fine.

the addition of panda, pandora or other naming convention may not be necessary or obligatory but would be nice nonetheless.

This is exactly what I'd be doing if I could get round to doing coding.

Not making a browser... Making up amusing names and writing stuff to fit :p
Whatever prefix or postfix works

imho it's a bit early to discuss over a naming convention since we aren't even sure 101% if the pandora will ever exist/be shipped.

Anyway I think to the ease of sorting out results from a web search engine.
Pandora, panda, dora gpx...c1p8.. leads to much more results.

The perfect solution would be an ending-prefix that is unique.

Anarchy! ;)

I agree. Surely somebody that devotes their own time to create software should have the right what to call it?

Imagine Bob's Game for Pandora. "Sorry Bob, you can only release this game (that took five years of your life to create and looks freakin' awesome) if you use the naming convention DoraBobsGa, as it's got to start with Dora and only be 10 characters. Take it or leave, Bob."
