i dont understand - i keep it in a hard case!

has anyone seen/experienced this?

i can pull it out but when i push it back in it doesnt spring back.

arrgh, am away for 2/3 weeks soon and was planning to get right stuck into Earthbound. Would this be a warrenty fix or am i going to be left with a perfectly functioning gp2x minus the R button?

no fair, just ordered a 4gb sd card too.

Try opening it up? On the back, there's four screws - they're in tight, but if you get the correct-sized screwdriver, you should be fine taking them out.

Take off the lid, and have a look at the shoulder-button. There's a guide on taking the back off more-indepth on the "headphone problem" thread in the FAQ section of this board.

I hope this helps.

have done that now.

the little switch underneath the R button is permanently depressed. i can pulled it out with a little knife but when pushed back in it simply stays there.

/cries/

is that with the shoulder button removed? I've seen it possible to get the shoulder in a position like you say where it gets stuck, but removing the shoulder button leaves you with a perfectly working button underneath, and you can then refit the plastic and it works ok again

no, the tiny 0.5mm grey button under the R button piece is totally depressed, i can pry it up to the "off" position but when pressed in stays there.

it seems that the switch has lost its springiness. can we buy spares yet? or pay for a fix? i imagine this would be a very simple repair.

i emailed gp2x.co.uk 2 days ago, nothing back yet.

Just a stab in the dark here, but it could be that some dirt or something has managed to squeeze its way in somewhere between the grey button and the buttoncasing. And thus preventing the button springing back. You could try to spray on some electronic cleaning spray (don't know a better word for it in English). It's usually good at dissolving dirt and stuff to increase conductivity. There are also sprays that clean and lubricate.

Yeah, that's a better idea... than just to spray away ... :)

And take a look at the sides of the button - maybe one moved a bit to the inside and because of this the button cap is stuck.

must have been a particle of shiznitz or summat, maybe a bit of jah rule stuck in there. managed to blow it out.

anyway, its ok! thanks all
