Especially in that they don't look as good as we've all been expecting. I.e. there doesn't *seem* t be a separate 3D chip; just one, big, 333MHz processor, and even that is variable. Plus which there's USB there, which implies there ought to be SOME PC connectivity at least - or a possibility of making some if there isn't already. Certainy, the possible problem of transfering stuff to and from it that it wasn't intended for ought to be eliminated to a degree...

Anyway, the specs are here if you're interested and haven't seen them yet.

Sorry about adding another topic to the ever growing list of PSP ones, though...

Pretty impressive...I like the usb 2.0 connection there as well as how many colors the screen can show. The 16:9 ratio is pretty nifty as well, I want to see it working before I can make any judgements though. Yeah, I don't see any mention of a separate 3D chip anywhere, so I don't think that the PSP's 3D capibility will surpass PSOne by much...

Looks sexy... even better than the Zodiac IMO. The screen is soo huge... with a screen like that the prospect of portable movies seems soo awesome on that. Widescreen *drools*

Japan got soo many good developers signed on (Square, EA, Tecmo, Sammy, Sega, Namco, Capcom, SNK etc.) North america didn't get half as many big namers unfortunatey...

And the 802.11b wireless sounds so sweet... my house is routed up with 802.11g/b, could I browse the internet on the PSP do you think? And doesn't it have much longer range than bluetooth?

When they first released specs this was supposed to have some high quality graphics accelerating hardware... (I think it was supposed to clock at like 60mhz or something). I hope they re-implement it or something, but I really like the current design.

Transfering them to...where? Onto the UMD? Not unless the PSP is its own UMD burner! Onto the MemoryStick? Dont memorystick drives already do that? Into memory? Not an idea gaming solution. Still back to square one.

Although the physical design makes you drool...

1. I don't see the storage problem. Use wifi/usb2 to connect to PC and send files to your own memory stick. You bought an SMC for your GP32, didn't you?

2. Don't worry about the specs. Graphics demos of the PSP suggest graphics between PS and PS2, but much much closer to the PS2 end. Which is good :)

Here is a quote from an official Sony Press release.

"In addition, software and data can be downloaded through a USB or wireless network onto Memory Stick™ PRO Duo. All of these features can be enjoyed on one single system."

Interesting?

Very interesting... that kind of implies it will be able to execute stuff frm the memory stick... which means if the encryption (assuming it only runs encrypted stuff) gets taken down, it has the potential to actually become fairly good in a homebrew scene. At least, if someone puts together an SDK that works with it somehow (no idea how you'd do that). And of course, that's assuming that only official software will run in the first place...

Have to say, I hadn't noticed that line :D

looks nice, Sony are certainly going for it. No chance of a homebrew scene for a good while though :(

Oh well, the GP32 and Zodiac should last me for a while yet.

Me too, sigh...

It seems to allow data to be uploaded from PC to memory stick so it looks very possible to me, of course I know crap all!
