New Website From Gpadvance

hmm hope a new site means also some updates to the emu ;)
would be cool to have some news.

Nothing too interesting there (beyond the fact that enf65 is still working on his emu)
Basically he just explains that he replaced his former blue page with a nicer one, and that beside the homepage, nothing is yet functionnal.
Nothing new otherwise, the emulator is still the same, for now.
Nice to see the guy's still at it though. :)

how bout he stops workin on the site and on the emu?! just kidding. looks like he has all of the video modes done cept for 1 and 2. i have gotten things like advance wars and some other smaller gba games to run on mine but they of course arent even close to full speed. and i think it was vba32. i like vba on pc so i was kinda more driven to try the vba port. i geuss this one is built from scratch.

anyone know what he says about using the romconverter? it says something about converting the other roms for something to do with the emulator. but i can read french just things that are really close to english or german. like ya know they sound pretty close but are just spelled differantly.

I'd still like to know how he's going to get around the SWI problem. He's running GBA roms directly on the gp32 (to get the speed required), so all GBA SWI calls are actually using the GP32 calls instead, and crashing, as they are the wrong functions.

(SWI calls, for anyone who doesn't know are basically operating system calls - for example, the gp32 has SWI calls for setting up the display, smc, etc)

wait wouldn't this mean that he wouldn't be able to run anything at ALL? I mean do only the other modes (other than 3-5) require SWI calls? If he can already run GBA stuff then how is this a problem?

Squidge: One month ago Enf65 said he solved the SWI problem by using the MMU. I don't know what this technically implies, but he said doing so would enable him to switch from GP32 SWI to GBA SWI at any time.
At first, he thought he would have to modify the BIOS to get GBA SWI working, but then he played around with the MMU and discovered he wouldn't have to. He also then discovered that it wouldn't be necessary to patch GBA roms anymore.

See message 167 on this thread, if you read french ;)

If you want more details about this and can't speak french, feel free to ask your questions here and i'll gladly translate/post them. Who knows, maybe enf65 will reply ;)

cool :) I guess you could setup an mmu page on the first 4kb of flash to get the swi calls, but would have thought the exception thrown by the mmu change would also go there. maybe I should get google to attack that web page.

thanks :)
