Hey there guys.

Just wanted to drop in and say hello. I've just ordered my GP2X and am waiting for it to arrive. I'm hoping to make this my home-away-from home, as I'm a videogame journalist and NEED to find a system to latch onto that isn't work-related. All work and no play makes jack a dull boy, right?

For that reason, I just ordered my GP2X. I've got a few questions though. What type of programs does the GP2X already have on it? Will I need to grab a mame, SNES, NES ect. emulator from this site? If so, which versions have been giving people the best results?

I ask this since I'm VERY new to underground gaming and hobby-dev, and need a bit of advice on where to start. I'll be posting about the GP2X on my work blog when I get it, so hopefully we'll have more people on board!

Thanks in advance. Sorry if this is a spamming post or in the wrong place. I'm LITERALLY just checking in for the first time.

Any pointers?

Welcoem aboard Jason !
All you need is to go to Gp32X to access the news and
Gp2X.de to download all the things you want.

A list of good things to try will be way too long :)
Many emus are really nice already. The Gba and Psx emus are the slowest ones for the moment but everything is still in development.
Megadrive, Neo-geo, Nes, Snes, Mame... Try it all ! And don't forget to download some homebrews, there's a lot of them that are incredible.

Dont forget to try Vobbo's New PCE emulator. At 2 weeks old its fullspeed at 266mhz without sound. I estimate completion in a month at most :p

Welcome aboard.

You will find quite a few of us use this as a home from home!

Check the archive as suggested for all your needs and get Guyfawkes' User Manual for getting yourself started.

The front page gives you all the information on new releases and I would echo the suggestion of checking out the homebrew as well as the emus, some of them are very good (I recommend Tilematch and Ladykiller for starters).

Enjoy....
