New to Pyra, Debian Bookworm bugs?

Hello all, I just got a secondhand Pyra and learning all of the things about the system. I loaded a fresh installation of Debian Bookworm. Two items I have noticed.

  1. Only the left stereo channel plays audio.
  2. The edges of the digitizer are not detected even after recalibration. I can tap anywhere except the edges.
Are these known current issues? I apologize if this is redundant.

I don't know. There are issues with audio, at least about efficiency, but I don't remember if this is one.

Yes, I definitely remember this being reported long ago, and never resolved. IIRC it's a hardware problem and it may be better or worse in each particular Pyra, but it's often present to some extent.

I don't have a Pyra. Replying just from hearsay.

I see the audio driver thread. Definitely something going on there.

Another item, the Pyra does not seem to recognize my Corsair wireless keyboard and mouse dongles.

Only the left stereo channel plays audio.

I went to check on mine just in case and had the opposite, right channel only. Check alsamixer and see if the "Handsfree" entries under the "Letux Cortex 15" device are set to "HF DAC" (left and right playback are separate).
But it also may be a bad contact of the speaker itself. Applying a bit of pressure on both ends of the case around the speaker area can already help. Over-tightening the screws may interfere with the nubs but you could also check for a balanced fit there.

Gotta say though, toggling the left speaker doesn't have as much impact as toggling the right speaker on my unit. The right one seems to do more heavy lifting... and yet it doesn't sound unbalanced to me when both are active. Or my ears are stupid.
On the other hand, I can't seem to get headset output beyond crackling noise that follows the volume setting. Not sure if this was broken. Used to work at some point, probably not on Bookworm.

So the speakers are press fit to the motherboard, so if you squeeze the case does the audio fix it self? that was one issue I had on first arrival of my Pyra, had to tighten the screws to the case a little bit.

Indeed. This reminds me of the first tiny batch of Pyra motherboards where the production site didn't realize the speakers weren't supposed to be soldered (they're actually meant to be press-fit). The springs made the speakers jump around in the reflow oven and they had to clean it. Unfortunately, there are no historical photos or videos...
