Ha, if you can beat this game on your first try your a gaming god! Its pretty tough but there is a 2nd mode that works like a rpg, as you play the game you earn points that you can use to upgrade your character like more life, upgraded weapons etc. really helps with the replayability.

I beat the NES contra on my first try... I might want to try this game out.
I've played it, never bothered to get past the third level. The issue is I was running it off of a USB stick, so it took several minutes to load a level. And of course you had to reload when you lost your lives.

Works just like a harddrive on the 360. Which is good because my 360 doesn't have a harddrive; it was a very cheap $99 refurb. The other games I got didn't give me much load time (Super Meat Boy, Megaman 9, Sonic 4, Shadow Complex) but this one really killed it.
Speaking of Contra, I sure as hell couldn't beat it on the first try, I had to work my way up to that. But Contra Hard Corps and Contra 3 on hard were a lot harder :/ (ow, nothing like saying hard three times in a sentence)
Actually... wait, it wasn't my first try; what am I talking about? Must have been my 4th try. It wasn't all that hard. I recently tried to beat it again and couldn't.
