Hello everyone. I finally managed to find time to fix the things that people have been talking about. These would be save states, game genie, and file browsing speed. Go to:

and get it! Please reply to this thread and let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Excellent. In my opinion it was already near perfect - apart form the save states.

Tested the save states on Mario 3 and 2 and worked perfectly. Scrolling rom menu much improved too.

An excellent release. Am sure to enjoy this loads!!!

Don't get me wrong nester is a fine release but there are somthings that still keep it from being near perfect in my mind. The compatability is not perfect because not all mappers are supported yet. I still find it a bit too choppy for my liking the frame rate could use a little work. The controls seem to be a bit loose as well. This is most obvious in games like punch out wich makes it really hard to dodge punches. From what I have seen and heard about fnes it is perfect. Take a look at the msx emulator which ryle did awhile back and just look at the quality. The reason that it hasn't been released yet is because the guy is a perfectionist and is trying to make it as perfect as he can. That is the only real explanation that I can think of as to why not too many of his many many emulators have acctually seen public releases. I really do enjoy nestergp and little john and will continue to to play the hell out of both of them but I have complete faith that fnes when if ever it comes out will be king of nes emulation on the gp32.

yeah but now he is working on a sms emulator which probobly means that fnes isn't being worked on <_<

Rlyeh works on various emus a lot, and switches between them equally. It wouldn't surprise me too much if he hgoes back to fNes in a week or 2...

I love rlyeh's work, and do not want to downplay his contributions, but great kudos to Scherzo - he's created an awesome emulator here! I haven't had any problems with the controls, but I don't like punchout and so haven't tried that one. I love the fact that the games can be played full-screen, I gladly give up a bit of framerate for that (I play at work where the sound has to be turned off anyway, so that helps). Competition is great, thanks to EVERYONE who develops great emus like these!

It's gonna be one happy happy day when Rlyeh releases all his emus. I wonder what he'll do? Wait until they're all perfect and release them in some kind of GP32 emulator extravaganza or release one at a time....gradually gathering an army of fans....Either way, I cant wait. :D

Thanks for your praise Kop_007, but I agree when people say that NesterGP is NOT perfect. I'm going to keep working on it even if another emu reaches full speed and perfect compatibility before NesterGP. It's my baby; my first release of any kind, so I'm going to work hard on it.
Oh, there's one little thing I failed to mention on the site or readme: Left and right page up and down in the file browser. That's it. More feedback is appreciated so keep it coming! :)

I've never seen a perfect emulator anyway.
Emulators can be close to perfect (99%), but there's always something that don't work. That's why I always have multiple emulators for the same system :)

But NesterGP was, like LJGP, a VERY impressive first release!
I'm looking forward seeing these two great emulators improve more.
I'm also looking forward at Rlyehs emulators!

Well if nestergp is based on the pc verson there sure is bugs, I use the pc version but it does not have enough mappers, and a few games dont work...

Dragon, there is one perfect emu...Zsnes
Just think if zsnes was on gp32. It sure is fast enough...

No, NesterGP isn't based directly on the PC version. It's a port of NesterDC which took from Unofficial Nester and NesterJ. It supports a lot more mappers than the last official Nester. Of course, there are still some oddball mappers missing, which I will attempt to implement in future releases. For the most part though, nearly every game I throw at NesterGP/DC works.

I have a question: NesterDC supports nnnesterj codes so the functionality is there just waiting to be used if you guys want it. I didn't bother because (1) I never used them before and (2) Game Genie seems much better known. But if enough of you want me to expose the functionality that already exists, I'll be happy to.

Mofokubik, you are SO right. I love ZSNES. I once thought it would be possible to port it to something like GP32 or DC. But here's the thing... it's written totally in NASM style (Intel) assembler which isn't compatible with GNU style (AT&T) assembler. Yes, there exist a few not-so-well-written converters, but none of them understand the conversion of macros. And ZSNES uses them a lot. You'd be better off writing one from scratch and using the ZSNES code as reference.

Nope. He created fSMS32 in an evening, basically. He has almost perfected fNes and wants to enter it into the gp32spain contest, so I expect he will work on that to get it released, then turn his focus onto fSMS. He is also still showing an interest in the other emus, but give the guy a break, he can only do so much at a time...
