i do want to buy one, but i also need it to work out of the box without all the obvious problems it suffers from, so is it anywhere near GP32 standard yet?

but I think the source will have to be released to the community for a good month before we get a bug-free firmware.
as for the hardware issues, rumors of a cap redesign abound, but honestly for $10 DaveC's cap is good
I honestly don't think the stick is that bad myself. I mean, it's not great and I'd rather have a d-pad, but it's not the deal breaker that it's made out to be. Maybe I'm just more precise than other people. Regardless, if you do some biasing in the control scheme towards the 4 main directions there won't be as much of a problem (for example if the user hits up and up-right at the same time, count it as "up"). There's an article in the wiki about it. Just how bad is this D-Pad compared to something else "Good" you've used? Stick aside. I mean if the Stick is replaced with something else, like DaveC's replacement cap, just how bad is it? I'm developing a top-scrolling shooter engine for the system, but I'd like to know I won't crash into every bullet because the pad is weird or unresponsive.
