My Pandora Review

ED has chosen differently, based on ---for me, wrongly--- perceived usage frequencies.
It wasn't me. We decided that together - and we're all happy. I've been using it for four months.

As a consequence, many applications and shortcuts have to be altered (e.g. alt+window drag has changed to shift+window drag). If you use a lot of shortcut intensive applications, this means that you have to learn two sets of keybindings when adhering to the chosen layout.

Well - you can put that back to Alt if you want. It's an XFCE4 setting.
Good for you ED. Glad you like the layout. I don't and therefore will change it. The main downside is that this will create incompatibility with the main layout which might require reverting settings and key bindings for many applications. Well, that actually sounds worse than it will be in practice. In any case, it's a minor issue easily solved.

The only thing I can see that's not perfect is when you shut the lid its open about half a MM on the left side not even noticeable unless you really look closely. This is as good as it gets my friend
Sounds good...Dammit! Another one that has his Pandora before me :)

I'm pretty astonished you think the case quality is poor when you have not seen it, everyone who has picked one up here thinks it's great - because we spent a long time making the moulding company get it right.
You're right Craig. This is not entirely fair of me.

I based my evaluation mostly on a lack of confidence in the Chinese factory, frustration with the long wait and the somewhat lukewarm review here. I should have more trust in you guys. The almost two years of delay have just made me a bit skeptical and you did prep us for perfection.

The busy waiting for this device has taken so long, I just needed to vent a little. I'll postpone the flames until after I have received my unit. I.e. two months from now ;)

You might want to check if it's actually the case or the small rubber that should prevent the case from scratching.

Mine has the same issue on the left hand side and it's not the rubber stopper thing, doesn't bother me I like the little quirks as it reminds me of pain you guys have gone through getting these out the door. :)

I don't expect that my unit is typical of others, as I'm sure more sensitive players would have made less sympathetic posts than mine, but the down direction on mine is very unresponsive.
o/` Boldly going upward 'cause down just doesn't work! o/` :p (ref: Star Trekkin' - The Firm)

In all seriousness, I hope your D-pad loosens up, like people seem to be indicating that they should. I hope it's not a problem with the microswitch though, as that might not resolve itself as well as tightness.

ED I think its because the right hand hinge is stronger than the left its literally half a MM and is like that on most clamshell devices I shouldn't have mentioned it as it pointless but it was to back up my point that this is well over and above what I expected in quality.

Thanks again for having me ED your a real nice guy :)

There are no microswitches, it's just rubber, plastic and a PCB ;)

It makes me want to upgrade my shipping!
Does this feel really surreal to anyone else? I've been waiting for this thing for so long, not having it has become part of my life. It'll be weird actually holding the thing in my hands. I'm unbelievably excited.

Yeah, it's odd. And waiting this long believing delivery is just around the corner has really helped me resist the temptation to buy all sorts of other gadgets! If it's as good as the first reviews suggest, maybe I'll continue to save that money!

First batch looks good. Few hiccups but better than I was imagining.

Of course I'm still a bit nervous about the d-pad as I was from the beginning but I don't think anything besides playing one could totally ease my nerves.

I have total confidence in DaveC as I have similar standards and preferences to him. Has he gotten a unit to test yet?

I love the melvins

I think DaveC has one of the unpainted prototypes
