My E-mail To The Pez Company

yeah, one thing you can count on in the good ol US of A is an ingredients label ;)

But you can't count on it being accurate. Some things they don't list like most flavorings. I've also heard of companies in California which import candies from Mexico, and put an ingredients label as required by law but simply guess the ingredients and nutrition facts.

Update:

... looks like that 800# points to a simple voicemail system. I'm not leaving them a message.

I found the address to the plant that manufactures the candy here in the U.S.

Pez Candy
35 Prindle Hill road
Orange, CT 06477
203-795-0531 (but this number has been disconnected)

I'm going to snail mail them my gripes. In my searching I found this bit of info from http://www.yankeegrocery.com/pezhistory.html

Over three billion, yes, BILLION PEZ candies are consumed annually in the United States alone. The only flavors of Pez that are currently available in the United States are orange, grape, lemon, and strawberry. Sugar free candies are also available in the United States in orange, lemon, and strawberry flavors. Until a few years ago there was no grape, and in its place there was cherry, but it was replaced with grape because Pez Candy Company thought the cherry flavor reminded children of cough syrup, so they discontinued it and replaced it with grape flavored Pez. But, if cherry Pez sounds to good, it is still available in Canada. If something crazier than the bland ordinary flavors offered here sound good, hop on a plane to Spain and you pick up some apple and raspberry flavored Pez. Or hitch a ride to Hungry or Thailand and pick up some chocolate Pez. There is even a rare (discontinued) and unusual Pez candy called "IZO" Pez that is vitamin enriched for health minded individuals. There is yet another rare and unusual Pez candy called "Kosher" Pez that is designed to comply with Jewish dietary laws. Some other long gone Pez flavors include chlorophyll, cinnamon, coffee, eucalyptus, flower, licorice, menthol, lime, IZO, and anise. These flavors were not popular enough when introduced, to keep producing them.

... though it's not accurate; we have a cola flavor that's decent. To be continued ...

Reminds me of when I e-mailed KitKat, asking them whether a KitKat is a biscuit or a chocolate bar.

KitKat said:
Thank you for your recent enquiry via email concerning Kit Kat.

Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to your enquiry. Such answer as there is comes from the Food Labelling Regulations 1984, of which the definitions given for a biscuit are far from satisfactory.

Kit Kat in all formats, does in fact meet the criteria for both a 'biscuit and for 'chocolate' confectionery. It would be pedantic and wrong to say that it meets one classification, to the exclusion of the other. The other important consideration is that Twix suffers from precisely the same problem. It is not an issue that is exclusive to Kit Kat, or indeed any number of similar products. What characterises them is both biscuit material and chocolate.

The other consideration is the form in which these products are presented and marketed. Two fingered Kit Kat has a different target market and notional 'end use' than the Four Finger or Chunky version. Four fingered and Chunky is an impulse purchase for all ages and regarded as a snack or break product, where as the multipacks, especially the Two fingered variety is purchased as a planned snack and regarded as a biscuit.

@nickspoon   Best reply ever!

Here's a picture of the candy along with the dispensers:

Note the sticker in front; it's got images of the not-for-U.S. dispensers along with a U.S. pack of orange candy. Weird!

You're thinking Chloroform. Chlorophyll is the green stuff in plants that allows for photosynthesis. :)

And there's still no goddamned reason for plant-flavoured PEZ.

Isnt it just supposed to be the pigment which gives the plant it's green color? I mean i suppose it is plant flavoured, but wtf?...
Incase you are bored of mitochondria and want to produce energy from the Sun? I guess you'd get fat fast if you had an efficient surface area...

Anyway, I picked up a couple of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle dispensers today as well as a 10-pack of the Cola-Flavored candy (to stick on Christmas gifts :p ) when I noticed ... an extra ingredient in the cola candy: Bicarb of Soda

... but still no response to my e-mail, so It's time to drop the snail-mail on those bastards. Note: PEZ Sours also suck ... they are just plain sour and make your tounge turn hideous shades of bright color:

It happened to me!
