Music In Homebrew Games

I'm currently working on two games, both of which are as of now sound-less. I can manage creating little sound effects such as 'beep' and 'buzz' myself, but nothing above that.

I'm looking for music that's free to include in your work. Of course, mentioning the composer(s)'s name in the game credits is implied. I'm using C/SDL for both games, so the music should preferably be in MOD/IT/XM format as it's less intensive to play (I don't know ASM, so I can't attempt using the 940 for ogg decoding...).

Any links would be greatly appreciated!

Any idea as to what sort of music you are after. I could make some tunes.

Great, I never expected someone to actually offer to do this for me :) Any light hearted techno/abstract would do just fine. Nothing very excentric, just regular, generic, game music. Thanks again for offering!

I could write something for you too, what is the game and what genre? Tell me a little more about what you require and I could write something appropriate, also do you need any FX?

One is an airhockey game, the other a pseudo-3D arcade racer. As for sfx, off the top of my head, I'd need a puck-on-paddle and puck-on-wall collision sound. The sfx aren't that big a priority though, but they're always nice aren't they :) Thanks a lot fluffy!

Ooh, I know what would cool for the ice hockey game. Although it may cause people to throw their 2x at the walls. Anyway, will have a play on wednesday.

MOD/IT/XM ???

Wow. That takes me back. I used to live plugged into FastTracker back in the day. What are you guys using to write tunes in these formats these days? I mean, is there current software that allows you to do this, or are you running the classics in DOS emulation?

If someone can point me at the right tools, I'd be happy to contribute.

EDIT: This isn't a warez request, btw. I buy my tools. I just remember that in the early 90s, all the best trackers were free or shareware, especially as the format was/is not "mainstream". Is this still the case?

NaCCuRiT, I think Parkydr will use those for C-dogs, or at least I think he intended to. :)

I thought there would be a program to allow me to convert to the file types you wanted to use but I cannot find anything to do that.

And the trackers aren't really the sort of thing I want to use.

Unless anyone knows of a program that can convert, or someone wants to use ogg or something like that then that counts me out.

Could do, I was waiting for some reaction from players of C-Dogs before doing anything about it.

They seem good to me, but I don't know if this is the sort of music people were expecting.

I spend most of my time producing music, i would love to write some tracks for games

I was also looking for a tool to convert to these formats, without any luck.

What software do you guys/gals use to produce music for your games, is the anything i can download that is free, or something that will allow me to use a demo version for trial purposes. (i dont want to buy untill im sure i want it)

I can use pro tools, reason, cubase, fruityloops.......... but none of these have the ability to output in the file formats you need to use for games (unless its ogg)
