I've created some movies using this very helpful guide http://www.hostultra.com/~w76666851180/ but the movies don't play very well. The picture is okay but the sound struggles badly to keep up with the picture, sounds like the cpu is having a hard time decoding everything. Anyone else had this problem? What did you do to fix it? I'm using gpcinema.

Are movies on gp32 generally crap anyway?

Before watching your movie, press R to set the cpu speed. The default is 100mhz but all GP32s can do 133. Try going higher also.

Also try re-encoding your video if that doesn't work.

And no, movies on the GP32 generally aren't crap, you just have to make the most of your CPU and encode your video with the right balance of video and audio quality.

STFU :p

Yes, although PSP can do a better job, GP32 can still do pretty good at movies.

I'm lovin' it. B)

Nice one mate! Cranking it up to 133 did the trick! cheers! Do you know why anything above 133 crashes gpcinema or forces a reboot?

I can see now they are not crap. I asked the question because when i was looking around to buy a gp32 I asked some bloke how well divx movies work on it, he told me not to bother, saying that they either "don't work or look shit". Anyway now I know he was talking out of his backside.

Going higher than 133 won't work because you have a GP32 that cant overclock.

edit: Wont changed to cant.

yes, all GP32's are garenteed to be able to go up to 133 MHZ, anywhere above that is just pot luck. some can't get a MHZ over 133 while others can get up to the 200 MHZ's. Although you can upgrade your GP32 with a voltage mod(recommended) or using the "pencil trick" (not highly recommended).

You use wierd divx lol.

The one is use i DO 2 PASSES not 1 like you did....

And Change the FPS to 17 or LESS not higher, since itll jsut lag,

Most new Animes i watch run at full speed with near perfectr quality 32bit sound 4kbs, Encoded to be 60megs each. So i can fit 2 on 1 card :)

I got mine from gbax.com, it's the guaranteed 166mhz model. When i tested it with the Clockspeed Tester is shows 172mhz.

EDIT: it doesn't crash/reboot straight away, it does play for a 50% ofthe movie then it crashes or reboots

Blah: I am not saying you shouldn't or can't watch movie on the GP32. I am just saying the PSP can use 1-2GB memory stocks which is more sufficient for holding more movies and has better software to put them in the correct format is all. The main thing is to have fun with your GP32, just saying the PSP is better for it, doesn't mean you can't enjoy in the GP32. It's like saying you can drive from California to Florida and you will eventual get there but it's more efficient it fly and take it jet...

The drive is cheaper and more pleasurable.

Emphasis on the cheaper.

What clock speed is that running at though? My 160mhz GP32 (with GPCinema clocked at 150mhz) can't handle 32bit audio unless I drop the frame rate to something much lower than 17fps
