My movies are all out of sync with their sound on my gp2x and they are also out of sync on my computer. I'm using VEMoDe to encode them. Can anyone tell me how I might sync the sound?

I'd use a different encoder. If you're having trouble with VEMoDe, then try Pocket DivX. You can easily make a prifile for the GP2X and save it, and encode all your ol' movies and junk specifically for the GP2X. I haven't used it, but I hear it's awesome.

I use it. It is awesome. I generally use the 2 pass encoding and make sure you bump up the volume.

thx for the help guys!

EDIT: Could you tell me what the settings should be so I can get optimal video performance? I've heard that firmware 1.2.x has made movies desync'd and that's what I've got so maybe thats my problem.

well the Pocket DivX was a dud, it actually made them even more out of sync

divx was fine with on my gp2x with 1.1.0 but now with 1.2.1 it is out of sync. I don't see the point of re-encoding everything to be honest. It worked fine before.

well re-encoding makes it smaller, a good thing when you only have a 128mb SD card like me

But he also said it was out of sync on his PC as well, which indicates a bad encoding... Was the stuff encoded on the PocketDivX in sync with sound when you played it on the PC? I haven't used PocketDivX at all, but if you can encode to XviD with it, then I think the newer firmware doesn't have the sync problem.

The original movies are all in sync. You can encode to xvid on Pocket DivX, but I don't really understand all the different codec things so can I get an explanation of them?

oh well wouldn't you know it! Pocket DivX has the neat little feature of being able to correct your audio and video syncronization!

Neat.

Well, DivX decoding (Playing on your GP2X) is a bit different than XviD... The only thing you really need to know is that one might *not* work where the other does. But it looks like you sorted it out.
