Moral Dilemma: Selling My Pandoras For Profit...?

Originally I ordered one Pandora from the team back in 2008, and about last year, my mother was looking for an internet tablet. I showed her pictures of the Pandora, and she really wanted one. So I began to look for sellers since my mom wanted one pretty quick. I found a local seller, but he did not have it yet, and he promised to sell it to me when he got it. About a year later (or just under a year) he got it, and I bought it from him ($400CAD).

But by now, my mom already bought herself a netbook, and she is happy with it. So basically, I have a Pandora, and my original order is coming soon. I will have two Pandoras.

Now, I've been a bit on the bad side of luck regarding my financial situation. Long story short, the restaurant I was working at shut down without notice last December, and the owners apparently filed for bankruptcy. Having said this, the entire staff is unable to get their two-weeks worth of pay. The owner owes me a big cheque, but I won't be seeing it (hurray for bankruptcy laws). I've been looking for a job, this and that, and so far I have been unsuccessful for the 3 months. On top of this, I attend school full time with tuition.

I only have a few hundred left in my account, and it seems I may be getting somewhat desperate. I can't even apply for employment insurance because I attend school full time.

Anyway, a few days ago I saw a Pandora getting sold for $960USD(!):

This gave me an idea. I am thinking of selling my Pandora for profit, for more than what I paid for originally from the seller. I'm not sure what the deal is with the $500 insta-get Pandoras, but I think they ran out. I didn't even think it was possible for a Pandora to be sold at $960. Must be a rare occurrence. But, if I can sell my Pandora for around that much, it would be greatly beneficial for me for at least a few weeks.

Here's the dilemma though. Of course I don't expect to sell it for anywhere near $900 to the GP32 community here, I'm guessing used Pandoras in this community goes for $400-$500ish. But since I could use profit, I am thinking of putting it up on ebay, auction style for profit.

What do you guys think? Is trying to sell the Pandora for high profit near impossible ($600-$800)? Should I just keep my Pandora and see if things on my end improve?

Seeing that ebay auction for $960 was a catalyst for my dilemma here, I could really use that cash!

We can't make your mind up for you, however my personal view is that if there is someone willing to pay $1k for a Pandora, then sell them a Pandora for $1k. Both parties get what they want.

Sell it for what ever people are willing to pay. You won't be taking money away from Craig, ED ect so what other problem is there?

The 960 unit was the right place at the right time. Nothing more, nothing less. If you list a unit right now, I would guess it would fall in the 500-600 range. A potential customer could get a premium unit for 500, plus shipping cost, but that could take 7 days. Once you have a unit in hand, you could probably sell yours for slightly more, hence the 600 or so as it is in hand and ready to ship.

If your not willing to let it go for under those amounts, you could put in a "reserve", but I wouldn't bother. It's an aucton, and whatever it goes for is what it is worth to the market at that place and time. Now you could also wait until inventory dries up, or wait for the team to run into some kind of delay between batch 1 and batch 2, but if it never happens, then your screwed waiting for a situation that never happens. My best advice would be to offer one on Ebay for .99 cents(starting price), offer 50 dollars for express shipping and insurance coverage, and let it fly. You should at least get 500, probably a little more. Not bad for a 330 investment 2 years ago.

btw, the only reason that ebay listing went to $960, was because of a irc pandora member jacked up the price, while someone probably had their buying price set to $1000, dont press your luck

Why would anyone buy a used Pandora for $960 when they can get a new one for $500? Sorry but I believe that you´re a little late, you should have sold it a few months ago.

You definitely won't get anywhere near $900 when they're available now for $500. You may be lucky to get up to $600 if someone's really impatient, but I think it's doubtful.

Wait until the premium offers are finished (i dont think they Craig wants to ship more than 100 of these IIRC), then wait a week and go for it, if your morals are not too high, let a friend of yours jack up the prize, of course with the risk that your friend ends up as the "buyer", in that case just repeat, until you find a maxed out prize that someone seemed to be willing too pay.

Whereabouts are you in the world? If you're geographically close enough, I would be willing to take yours off your hands at a premium and pay cash. Mine's LCD cable began to die right while I was in the middle of a project, and, while I do plan to send it back and have it properly repaired, it would be nice to have access to one sooner rather than later.

I've been the broke student before; it's not easy...
