I saw this too.
Issue would be
1) how to safely mount the new OS
2) then it would be drivers
3) then it would be little thingss that dont stop it from becoming unusable but make it pointless to install
4) how to polish this ROM suitable for the target device

#3: can be touchscreen offset, key mapping, shutdown not working, errors pop up for some programs like firefox etc etc
#4: make better UI, adjust sizes of icons and text, install flexible theme, dress up theme, kill off background tasks that have no use (ie infrared on a device without irDa)

... all in all, alot of work (hope leans towards XDAdevs)
