I just received my new Wiz and installed mame4all. My favorite all time video game is Vanguard. (its a nostalgia thing, I played it in the arcade back in the day) Its a side scrolling space shooter that the dpad controls beautifully. Your ship has the ability to shoot 4 directions, front, back, up and down. Problem is the default mapping is whacked. I want B to shoot forward, A to shoot back, Y to shoot up and X to shoot down, but I cannot figure out how to do this.

Any help would be appreciated

when you load the game, hit the menu and select buttons at the same time

this will bring up the mame config menu

then you can select INPUT [THIS GAME] menu. hit B to select this

then, you move your cursor to select the control you want with your left dpad

when you highlight the control you want, hit the right dpad B button

the next button you hit will be the new control

when finished assigning controls, use left dpad to select RETURN TO GAME

you settings are stored

it may sound complicated, but once you do it a couple of times, its real easy

note - sometimes the first meny you get will say SERVICE MODE on top. you don't want this menu.
use your left dpad UP to select RETURN TO MAIN MENU and select B, this will bring you to the
INPUT [THIS GAME] menu

Thanks - that worked. This plays Vanguard GREAT!

Which button is the OK button to start the ROM? I cannot seem to rind a combo that works every time or do you just have to wait a certain amount of time?
