Lucid Dreaming And Other 'anomalous' Experiences..

In the vein of recent posts about time travel, chakra energy, and whatnot, I'd like to ask others here about other 'strange' things in their lives... ever seen a ghost? ever been telepathic/had other psychic experiences? some people can fold up their tongue into three loops, most people can only make a U shape, some people can't roll their tongue at all... Ever been plagued by weird coincidences? this is the thread...

for me, I've had a good long period of lucid dreams :) (good explanation here)

erm... and I've also had a near-death-experience/psychotic episode (partly drug-induced, partly genetic, part due to life-experience) which was pretty cool, as well as being absolutely terrifying at the same time...

just wanted to ask, I guess... *blush*

I'm a level 43 pagan moon goddess. I can make rocks shoot out of my childrens ears and I can bend spoons with my knees.

On a serious note, lucid dreams are pretty damned awesome. I think most NDE's are just the bodies natural reaction to being close to shutting down. When you are born and when you die your synapses are apparently flooded with DMT, which is a halluagenic chemical.

when i was 4 i had a lucid dream. The was a magic combine harvester and it got thrown down some stairs and eaten. i woke up and went to sleep to have another lucid dream about going to school.

How could you remember a lucid dream from 11 years ago, it also sounds like you were not in conyrol.

i was. I remembered it. I have had many but could not remember the whole thing. That i could but don't know why. I was in control and at first thought it was real.

Remember, to have a lucid dream doesn't mean you have control it means u reconize that it is a dream. :)

ever thought that you are dreaming that you are having a lucid dream

i for one fail to believe this is true because being asleep is being in a complete state of unconsciousness, dreams happen because your mind deviates and imagines

if you are aware of a dream you would no longer be asleep and wake up

ITS ALL BULLS**T

That is Bullshit!

I often used to have "Lucid Nightmares"(Lucid Dreams are very rare for me)...
I have woken myself up from a fair few of those just by concentrating very hard on opening my eyes wide and disconnecting myself from the dream.
Amazingly difficult to wake yourself up from a nightmare though. It's a bit like in Nightmare on Elm street...

Anyone have those stupid nightmares, such as:
I went to bed one night and fell asleep.(obviously) :D
I had a nightmare about a stupid christmas tree and it didn't have enough lights on it. so I started crying and woke up with myself bawling and feeling sick to my stomach. Weird.

ever thought that you are dreaming that you are having a lucid dream

i've wondered that... am I actually realising I'm dreaming, or am I just dreaming that I'm realising I'm dreaming...?

I kinda decided that I *am* actually realising I'm dreaming... especially during the ones where I know (from experience) that if I move at a certain moment, I'll be moving my physical body and it'll wake me up...

...So I'd chill out for 30 seconds or so until I judged I was 'asleep enough again' to be able to get on with my dream adventures without waking myself up...

Next time one of you lucid dreamers has a dream, try looking into the mirror. You have no notion of self-image in the lucid state, so bizarre things usually happen.

I had a dream about this guy last night.

I once had a dream I was up on the castle (kendal) with lots of people I know and there were lots of cool cloth tubes we were all crawling through. I woke up then went back to sleep again and had to apologise to everyone that I'd left/woke up and we all had a conversation about how its really annoying when that happens. Then we ended up sledging down the castle. Was a fun dream.

As a kid at a certain point I wanted a very bad nightmare to end and succeeded in doing so, not by ending the dream or waking up but by changing the storyline, making the 'baddies' weaker and myself stronger (there was a very strong realisation it was a dream because I always had the same nightmare).
After that first time I have been able to end dreams, change dreams and 'write' my own dreams. It doesn't always work though, I believe in my case it works best in the last few hours before waking.
I would really like to try the mirror thing but for the last three years I've been sleeping much deeper because of medication I'm taking. I can't influence my dreams anymore, I don't even remember them.

And for those that haven't died in their dreams yet: it doesn't kill you, sweet dreams ;)

Now it's our turn to laugh at you Matt. Lucid Dreams have been proven under scientific conditions.

Yes because achieving a state between consiousness and unconsiousness is impossible and is a crazy lie made up by crazy people.

I am not entirely sure what qualifies as lucid dreraming, but as I have already said, I recognize my dreams as dreams, at least every one I can remember. I asked my parents and they said it is the same for them. I did not come round to ask my grandparents yet, but I do believe they have experienced the same too. It never actually seemed odd to me, you are the first ones to tell me this is something special.

Klown: Then what so you call those moments when you... let's say "dream" something and have to do a sudden movement that awakens you with one blow? Those things definitely happen, happened to me quite often already. Yor a split second you feel extremely disorientated, then confused and a second or two later the feeling is gone and you are fully awake. I am quite sure that qualifies as such a "hybrid state" and I know it happens.
